Evening, peeps! I must be the only person on earth who can follow a recipe for making apple pie and completely butcher it. Well, it has all the right flavors, but the apples on top are dry and crusty, and my beautiful lattice top turned all hard and crunchy. How do this happen?? But I can make a nice loaf of bread, got that down pat.
Oh no! Do you, by chance, use convection? Convection heat is great for baking, but the temperature should be slightly lower and it should bake for less time. I have been using convection ovens for 25 years. My latest has convect modes for bake and roast and, of course, the Perfect Turkey, LOL.
But your pie still sounds edible, yum; just put some ice cream on top and eat away.
