What is it with a$$holes?! Did they all come out of the woodworks for New Year's and forget to go back? My friend was on a flight to FL with her toddler, and when she asked the rowdy guys behind her to please not yell so loud so as not to wake her child, they basically said F--- you and proceeded to insult, not her, but her 2 yr old sleeping child the entire flight! So sorry you had to hear that crap, ATG. There's no reason for that kind of behavior, ever. Bring on the chocolate!

Prinncess, Good luck with your Dad. It's really hard to go through this. It's good that you have family close by to help. When my Mom started to get really sick, I was about your age. I think in your 30s/40s you have the maturity and life experience to deal with end of life issues with grace and dignity. I cannot imagine processing a parent's death, if I was in my teens or 20s. Hopefully your spouse or significant other is there to help. Remember, Chat peeps are a pretty supportive and wise crowd. We're here as a virtual shoulder to cry on. I should de-clutter too, but I have teenagers. I really should take a picture of my kids rooms. It's horrifying. Then, DS has manifest destiny to put all his stuff around the house. I once put post it notes on everything NOT put away in my house when DH and the kids were out one time because I was just sick and tired of putting things away. There were about 100 little notes around. Everyone laughed, but got the point. Hmmm, I may have to do it again.

OB, (((Hugs to you and liOB))) Yikes, people on planes are the WORST. One of the many reasons why I loathe airplane travel. There is precious little civility. I have had people lean back so far that I took a sheet of paper and measure the distance from me to the end of the person's head rest. It was about 12 inches. There was nothing I could do other than close my eyes and get to my happy H place.

Thanks guys! Luckily my pal had her 2 month old for me to snuffle and I feel fine! I didn't do anything except laugh about it. No sense in shouting back at the asshats. Likely they're having a terrible day (life?) and taking it out on strangers is the only way they can cope. At least, that's what I'm telling myself as I swallow another See's candy!

I have a nomination for COO of Massengil. It's my mentee, the same person who gave me the face scrub for my birthday.

This missive just appeared in my text messages:

"Hi, Happy New Year. Sorry I have not been in touch. I was stressed about your gift but I finally found something that I feel good about and can afford."

Now I'm not going to be able to sleep because a bazillion scathing responses keep coming to mind.

If I might play :devil: advocate (and maybe I'm waaaay off base), if she knows you like we do, you are very discerning and used to nice things (even if 99% are from wonderful sample sales), so I can't really blame her for being nervous and stressed out trying to find something that she thinks you will like and she can afford. I had the same stress when it came to your birthday, but I went with my gut and made something partly because I liked it and could afford it, but mostly because it would be unique and one-off. Does that make sense or should I retreat to my corner with some tin foil?

What anti-wrinkle creams do you use? I'm looking for something for my eyes, neck, and face. I just bought products from the Dr. Perricone line. I've never used his products before but he makes big promises. I would pay any amount for something that actually worked.

Too true, OB. Too true. Though, my Clarin deodorant is spency and comes in a beautiful red bottle...

What anti-wrinkle creams do you use? I'm looking for something for my eyes, neck, and face. I just bought products from the Dr. Perricone line. I've never used his products before but he makes big promises. I would pay any amount for something that actually worked.

I use La Mer cream. Does it work? Who knows I do know that it's the best moisturizer I've ever used; if I use it at night, I can wash my face in the morning and put on makeup without needing any further moisturizer (but I do use spf moisturizer anyway since it's a must around here). I certainly see more fine wrinkles around the eyes than 3-4 years ago when I first started using it, but who knows, I might look worse without the La Mer! Well, that's what I tell myself everytime I choose to buy my yearly jar rather than the much cheaper Olay.
