Mree, OB, Mindi, restricter, EB, ATG and thenurse, Thank you! I know you all are right, I just need to accept it. I think EB is right this feeling is part of the grieving process. I know if it was a friend saying she felt this guilt, I would say the same thing you all did, that it was not her fault and she did the best she could, so I guess I should accept that for myself as well.

That should have never happened. Having worked in a nursing homes I have seen too many pass, that gurgled gasping breath is a sound you don't forget, so I knew what to expect and knew I didn't want to see that with my Dad. I am so sorry your choice was not honored.
I think the guilt was made worse because I know it my heart my sister could have handled being there. She is an amazing Labor and Delivery nurse and is one of a small group of nurses that handles infant demise, (there is no need to go any further into that as we would all be a heap of sobbing tears), I know it is different when it is your own family member, but I know she would have handled it and wanted too, so I think that is why I am not letting my common sense over rule my guilt. But thank you all for the reminder that I should!

OB it's easy to explain, your tummy likes all the chemicals that are in the Big Mac. Hey, it's not your fault they are so good tasting and your body needs them to feel better. Want to go to Chick-Fil-A later? That sounds super good right now!
