Oy. Am trying to type on DH's new XOOM.
Bmom, I love your new avatar. I hope PB is feeling better. I worry about those fevers.
Mindi, do remember to let us know how DM does with Dr.
Irish!! Hi great to sea you.
DS's friend's mom passed away and he is driving to Philadelphia for the funeral. This was a woman who was a rabbi and was very influential in DS's life in college.

I cannot type on this thing anymore:-)

Thanks BBL, isn't it stunning? Another piece of VCA I will never own in this lifetime! The whole collection is breathtaking. It's Mommy and Baby and it's worth a look if only for the   :faint: factor!

Safe travel to DS, my condolences to his friend's mom.

^^Purse make sure you double check the flowers when they arrive the day of. They sent the wrong boutonniere for my groom and had to go back and re-do and re-deliver! Lucky we had the time!

Went to a wedding on Mother's Day weekend a few years ago. It was a destination wedding and it was awful! Too busy and the worst weekend of the year to try and go out for breakfast! Ended up leaving super early in the morning and just going straight home.

Thanks for the heads-up GK!

That's awful about the destination wedding.

I never thought about Mother's Day when I was considering dates. Easter and May long weekend were the ones I avoided.

Wedding scheduling is tough. Sometimes people deliberately pick holidays, either because they want the two celebrations to coincide, or because their desired guests might find it easier to take time away from work and travel to the wedding during a holiday (my DSIL chose July 4th weekend for that reason). But it has drawbacks! I never even thought about the floral issue re Mother's Day! But purse, WOW--YOU ARE GETTIN' IT DONE! So exciting!

LOL- a friend of my DM complained bitterly one time about a wedding anni party scheduled for a long weekend as she has a cottage and the party would interfere with going away for the weekend.

Guess it depends on how far you need to travel.

I was married on Memorial Day weekend, and definitely had some people send regrets because they were traveling. They were not missed:p

Re Destination weddings: That totally made up my mind never to go to one again. Aside from the gift, the aggravation and rudeness of the people running the hotel, there was the fact that the hotel was amongst the most expensive in the desert area and I objected to spending a small fortune for a suboptimal room that I was in for about 12 hours. Our room was not ready when we arrived and I came pretty close to having to get dressed in the Ladies Room. We ran into the groom in the hotel lobby who graciously gave us the use of his room as he had no further need of it as the wedding couple were going to a honeymoon suite. We had to transfer our things out of there during the cocktail hour. It was a mess.

I think it is quite selfish of people when they plan these things to be honest.

We chose our wedding date based on the football schedule for the university in the town where we got married. We knew that the hotels would be empty and venues would be available on the day of the big rivalry game that was out of town.:D

Bmom, love those VCA watches  I made the mistake of trying on a 20 motif necklace, which used to be in my "I'll never spend that much on a necklace" category...guess who's culling bags and shoes and collecting loose change from the couch cushions :sweatdrop:

That sounds terrible! Everyone was talking "Destination Weddings" when DH and I got married! Although, since DH and I are the only members of our family out this way, it was kinda a 'destination' wedding for the rest of our family. To make up for dragging them clear across the country, we paid for their flights and hotels. DH's family drove me insane on this, as they wanted the reservation information the MOMENT we told them the wedding date. They were so impatient, they just booked everything themselves - for more $$ than I would have spent - we just paid it. Ah, the joys of weddings.

The idea of a destination wedding is a fun one - the thought that all your guests get a vacation in a beautiful or interesting location. I just feel that it rarely turns out that way! Who has time to explore when you're struggling to get ready for a wedding?! We did arrange for a tour of our city for the entire family. A nice private several hour open bus tour. That way everyone could see the sights without trying to navigate alone.

You are AWESOME! We chose our wedding date based on the numbers. Our first date was 02/02/02 so our wedding date was 05/05/05!
