That was smart OB!

When DFi and I went to look at watches for gifts for his best man and groomsman, we went to the jewellery store that carries VCA. After looking at watches and and talking to one SA, I dragged DFi over to the VCA section. I'm drooling over the the necklaces and dying at the prices when the first SA came over to let the VCA SA know about the wedding. Her attitude made a sudden change for the better! She was fine before, but after she became even nicer.

Amazing the kind of service you get after uttering the word wedding!

Re: Destination Weddings......In my opinion, they should only happen if the hosts are picking up the tab for everyone. Otherwise, you end up with only those guests who can afford it, and those who made sometimes great sacrifices to be there. Not the making for a wonderful event IMO.

Purse, it sounds as though you have everything in order. Getting close!

We chose our wedding date based on the football schedule for the university in the town where we got married. We knew that the hotels would be empty and venues would be available on the day of the big rivalry game that was out of town.:D

Bmom, love those VCA watches  I made the mistake of trying on a 20 motif necklace, which used to be in my "I'll never spend that much on a necklace" category...guess who's culling bags and shoes and collecting loose change from the couch cushions :sweatdrop:

I'll never have that problem with the watches (but I don't try them on just to be safe!).

We had to pick August for our wedding, it was the only month off DH got from the school he was working at the time (GK, SAMO HS!). Made for cheap (and toasty) anniversaries in Vegas!

Want to see my new kitchen?

Sorry about the head tilt required!

Exactly or at least make it easy for your guests. My nephew was married in No. Cal and my brother used his FF status with the hotel chain to get us all a preferred rate on the Concierge Level. He and my SIL also hosted dinners and breakfast etc for the guests. It was a great weekend and very nicely done. Their friends from the east coast who came out, traveled quite a bit so they had racked up the FF miles for plane travel and some for hotels in their program. We all did our own thing during the day in SFran and then met for dinner. It worked out.

I could not understand how my friends never thought to host a brunch at the hotel on MD weekend! My friends who slept in ended up with no breakfast and a ton of freeway traffic on the way home. We left at 8am! Avoided all of the above and actually ate when we got home 2.5 hours later at a local restaurant before the hoards descended.
