B-Mom, With my DS, I had the same issues with homework. And I had to ride him hard during elementary school and middle school. By the time he got to high school, I started to pull away because it was sink or swim time.

But what I think is the core issue, rather than the homework, is the lines of respect and authority that are manifesting itself as the whining and the speaking back. She is trying to exert control over you. PB is pretty young, and I would definitely put my foot down when this happens. When you ask her reasonably to do her homework, talking back is not acceptable. You and DH are parents, and are not in a popularity contest. Trust me, by putting your foot down now, it is going to make your life infinitely easier by the time she is a teenager. You need to be firm and fair, and let her know what your expectations are, and the consequences. It's going to be difficult at first. Let her know that her "job" is to go to school, do her homework first, then activities and fun stuff after that. Just as it is that your "job" as parents to love her, feed her, clothe her and prepare her to be an adult. When she does well, praise her to high heaven.

I laid down the law when the kids were young. I AM the Tsarina of my household and DH and I made the rules. My expectations/goals for my kids is to grow up to be mensches--good people.

I hope this makes sense to you.

I do not mean to be critical of you in any way. Being a parent is really difficult. There is no book that they give you when you have em. And what worked for me, may not work for you. Also, you and DH have got to be absolutely in sync when it comes to the respect and discipline issues or PB will play you and DH off one another. She's a bright kid.

(((Hugs and Good Luck)))

Good morning!

I have a job interview this morning and it's at the World Financial Center. It's been almost 6 years since I worked here and wow, the changes! Lots of progress on WTC 1 but the streets are a mess! It's like an obstacle course to get from the subway to the building. Great workout though. It would keep my legs and butt toned for sure.

Well, wish me luck!

Thanks Pugs, I'm on my second glass of chard:hugs:

:hugs:

Now that I've killed Chat, I'm heading to bed. I did something to my back and the percocet is finally kicking in. Yay good drugs!

Hope your back feels better today Mistikat :flowers:

Cobalt71, so glad you are learning more about H! I bet the woman looked gorgeous, love that scarf! I'm sorry about your cat, I'm sure you have some wonderful memories with her!

Restricter, Jinjy texted from the laundry room, asked if he's invited for Chinese take out ;) (but seriously, sending many hugs, I too have heard acupuncture works wonders on people and animals!)

OB, I'm sure you'd rock the scarf! But let lilOB try it first ;)

BBL, I'll go with you're hot! :graucho:

Well, Pugsy,:roflmfao: You obviously either get me! or you are too young to get it! I get so warm, that I am HOT STUFF hot. I peel off my layers and usually the scarf is the first to go!! I was freezing in the house yesterday. Rather than turn up the heat, which any normal person would have done, I donned a cashmere cardigan, a hat, and a GM. Hey, I have the stuff, why shouldn't I wear it, right? So, Coco goes nutty, because I'm wearing a hat. But I do get warm. A good thing. The hat goes off first. My GM stays on because my neck is cold and I have it folded a la cervical collar and it stays warm and is therapeutic, but warm. The sweater stays on. And again, I am hot stuff. Not looking hot, but temperature-wise. Hot, stuff.
You will get it in a few years!
