Wait EB, come back! I need your (any everyone else who had kids) help:

DD HATES HOMEWORK! And we're talking easy-peesy 2nd grade homework. Gawd help me next year and all other years after! Seriously, crying, shoulder shrugs at the simplest questions (what is a stream?)...I'm about to kill both of us! I'm too old to remember, and I only have one, so is this normal? Is there a grade when this goes away? Am I failing as a parent? :pout:

B'mom, we were lucky that DS usually lied to us that he never had homework and we were so beaten down by the end of our day that we couldn't fight with him. Somehow he managed to get through school and actually got to choose the college (1 of the 7) which accepted him. I don't know how or when he did the work, but he did. In college he buckled down and worked his butt off. The school he went to made sure of it. He had to attend classes and write huge papers for each class.
In a nutshell, PB should listen to her DM and keep her eyes on the Wii. It's her homework, not yours. You should look at it, not do it for her. Other kids just ruin our beautiful babies, and wreck their sweet little dispositions. I hate to tell you, but I don't think it's going to get easier, sweetie.

Good morning!

I have a job interview this morning and it's at the World Financial Center. It's been almost 6 years since I worked here and wow, the changes! Lots of progress on WTC 1 but the streets are a mess! It's like an obstacle course to get from the subway to the building. Great workout though. It would keep my legs and butt toned for sure.

Well, wish me luck!

Good luck!!!!
Is this something you really want? What about your beloved sample sales? Oh, Restricter, this could change your entire life!!:yahoo:

Really, the best of luck on your interview. Just watch out for all the looky-loos who have made WTC a tourist stop.

Resticter....good luck!!!! So exciting!!!

Brenna...I have three boys. All different. My oldest (12 today!!!) gets straight a's and yet puts so much pressure on himself that he gets overwhelmed almost once a week and wastes at least and hour or two before he can begin. Then he realizes he can do it and it is done in 1/2 an hour!!! I wish we could skip the whining and overwhelmed part!!! My 7 year old is the only one who sits and does everything (even extra). I think he benefitted from watching two older brothers always have homework. It is so not easy!!! I feel for you!!!! :hugs::hugs:

Morning...thanks for the good wishes but the back is still cranky. And it's icy out. Good times! EB, agree with your approach completely. it's worked for us. But then I'm probably one of the few who isn't freaking out over the Tiger Mom book approach.

Good luck with the interview, restricter. Hope it goes well.

Morning everyone!

Sorry about the back Mistikat!

BMom - HUGS! I have no idea bc I have no kiddos, but sending you vibes and a decade supply of virtual wine.

Pugsy - sorry about your schedule through March. That sucks.

BBL - I'm absolutely certain Pugsy knows exactly what "hot stuff" is. She's a wise 60 year old in a gorgeous 20-something body. How have you not figured this out yet?

Restricter - I am SO sorry about the kitteh situation. And sending vibes for a great interview.

Hugs to EB and lulilu and OB and purse and everyone else! Sorry I am not caught up yet.

Hey, Peeps! First things first: Vibes to restricter for a kick-*ss interview, vibes to misti for a fast-healing back, and vibes to B-Mom that homework time becomes less stressful for all involved. A question for B-Mom. . . What would happen if PB was "permitted" NOT to do her homework and then got to reap the consequences at school? WOULD there be consequences at school? Would the school be able to partner with you and DH in demonstrating that not doing the homework results in not-fun stuff, like maybe being kept in at recess or given some remedial work or something similarly unpleasant? Do kids even have recess anymore? I ask because I know I would have hated being separated from my class for any sort of disciplinary action. But do I know anything about raisin' babies? Nope.
Nor do I know anything about raisin' dogs. HenHen ate some chamois cloth this morning. A tiny piece, maybe 2" x 2", but he got it and swallowed it so fast that I am only 98% sure I even saw it. DH didn't see it. It took me about 45 minutes to even figure out what I MIGHT have seen him eat. Then I induced vomiting. No apparent cloth. Took Henry to ER (rush hour, docs at morning rounds, three hours total visit time), had x-rays (something opaque in stomach, could be anything), had ultrasound (stomach appears empty). Net result: Inconclusive. Fast him, watch him, and wait. This happened in DH's closet, it was DH's little wipey chamois, he didn't even NOTICE, and of course, he is mad at me. As ATG would say, le sigh.

OMGosh! Lil Henry is a Hoover! Poor lil guy and POOR MINDI!

Yeah, normally he would gnaw on something like that and not swallow it, but this morning, it went right down. Which is one reason why I'm doubting I even saw it, but I saw SOMETHING, it was chamois-colored, and, by the way, crap. I really, really hope he passes it without too much pain, but I have this awful feeling that there is a suffering dog and a hefty surgical bill in my future. Oh, and I have oral surgery this afternoon. Could I be any happier right now?

Thanks a lot! For a few minutes, I thought she was complimenting me.
And, no, I have never figured that out. All this time, I figured she was just a gorgeous young thing with beautiful shooz, pugz, and bagz. Remember I have never had the privilege of meeting her. Do you think she could be even *younger* than old moi? I seriously doubt that!:D
