No.
Nor are Birkin's or Kelly's wearable on almost everything.

Your first questions should be what do you want?
What do you want the bag(s) for?

When you are able to say, 'I want a bag for this . . .'
you will know what choice to make
and until other people know what you want they cannot advise because all the assumptions they might make could be wrong.

You still have not stated which continent you are in.
I am in Asia.
I want the bags for my collection. I already have the Herbag, Evelyn and a few jige..which were bought during my trips to Europe, so I don’t have any relationship with one SA...just have now started to venture into B and K. Whole idea of this post was to know if it’s normal to get offered these bags with condition of buying 120% over value and get an idea of what’s the preferred colour

1. I have never been told I had to spend any amount of money to get a bag. Do you have a longterm relationship with the SA, SM and boutique? Do you have a good customer record?

2. I have read here that certain SAs/stores in Asia are very upfront about the need to spend a specific amount for a bag, but I am not searching for those posts.

3. If you live in a warmer climate, maybe etoupe would be better than black with warm weather clothing, unless you wear lots of things that black would compliment.

4. I would not spend 12K for the opportunity to buy a bag, unless I planned to buy something like jewelry, shoes, housewares anyway. (Even then.....)

ETA: I see you've answered some of my questions while I was posting.

Thanks dear for your response.
I don’t have a relationship with any SA as such or boutique as my purchases were made during my trips. Now since a few months I’ve made contact with one SA and she has offered me this after 3 months. Not sure if this happens or not hence I was here asking questions...

I understand your question and the answer is that we, referring to Europe in this case, are not used to this. Such questions are not being asked, nor is it being communicated directly to us that you need to spend certain amount in order to get a Kelly or a Birkin offered. HOWEVER, except for Paris, I am not aware of any other shops in Europe where you will be offered a Kelly or a Birkin especially in sizes you mentioned, without having a customer profile, meaning without being established customer of Hermes. For bigger bags this is possible, for smaller bags, I strongly doubt it.
Many ladies (on this forum as well) must wait for quite some time, to be offered a 25 Birkin or a Kelly.

Both colours etoupe and noir are popular colours, however my personal choice would be black, since I am not that charmed by etoupe.

My advice would be size 25, since it is the most popular size at the moment. When it comes to colour, just pick the one which makes your heart sing:smile:

I’m located in the US so the experience will differ. I have never ever being forced to shop at H just to get a B or K, and I would absolutely flip out if my SA told me that “oh look here I got three bags for you to choose... but only if you spend 120% more!” I’m not a cow waiting to be milked nor a donkey running with a carrot on a stick. I don’t feel like I’m being treated as a valuable client if my SA acts this way. I’m purely being seen as a personal ATM instead of a living, breathing being. There is nothing fun about this shopping experience, and the conversation just does not seem genuine. This is literally a “credit card” kind of interaction - promising things before it even happens. Is your SA going to reserve a bag for you for months until you spend enough? That would be even more bizarre because otherwise how can they guarantee you that this specific bag will still be available when you fulfill your end of this “non-contract binding deal”? It’s so frustrating to hear this kind of experiences... This is one thing I don’t like about H, and this is probably what pushed so many people going for preloved bags... You can probably get two bags instead of one lol.

That being said, what do you truly need? What do you truly want? What are you willing to do and what can you afford to do? Is it worth it to you personally? Your personal style, financial situation, and even emotional state can have varying impacts on this purchase.

If you decide to go ahead with this,I would go for etoupe if the climate of your city is humid lol. Black just feels heavy in a hot humid environment.

To answer your question, yes - in Asia this does seem to be common to be conditionally offered a bag with a relatively concrete suggested spend to purchase. I have also heard of this type of protocol taking place in certain US boutiques, but I honestly think that's more of a game certain SAs will play here...

In terms of which to choose, I would hands down go with the K25. A neutral colour versus black will be much easier to wear with anything during any season. You also have the option to wear the K25 with its strap versus a B you are just carrying a tote, period. I find Ks to be much more functional, and I do love an Epsom Sellier personally.

Anyone here from South America and knows the prices there?
Wondering how this would help you, can you speak to that? You have your SA, from whom you plan to buy (isn't that right), for local prices, as well as the already linked TPF master list for Europe etc.
