Sorry to bring a bit of a downer into proceedings - I'm as desperate for solid information as everyone else here - but after a glimmer of hope with Last Night I find I'm just not in tune with the aesthetic of the silk collection. For me the baobab flower would have been enough - what dangerous drug were they on to stick a cat's face in the middle of it? To me it just looks ridiculous. Over the last few seasons there have been a number of quite simple-looking avant-guard designs which if you don't care about the vagaries of modern art are easy to ignore ( Natalie Pasquier previously, Charpentier this season ) or the other string of designs are so busy they just give me a headache looking at them (both the Goose Game and anything by Pierre Marie). To add insult to injury Hermes persist in taking perfectly good designs like Della Cavalleria mash them up with lines and hatching or add four different but equally discordant borders. I just find that a lot of the silk collection is irritating rather than intriguing - I know this says a lot about me and my outlook on art and high end fashion and I was keeping quiet about it but I found I was not alone and my local boutique's buyer despaired of this forthcoming A/W season and found it very difficult to select enough stock for the period up to Christmas.

Obviously having said this we're now all going to be deluged with a long list of handsome designs in strongly attractive colourways! Let's hope - the colours have at least veered away from the pastel washouts of spring so I refuse to give up hope. I only found my ideal Spring/Summer scarf in May and that was tucked away unheralded in the men's collection - it's never easy being an Hermes obsessive and I suppose I like it that way:smile:
I enjoyed reading your thoughts on this coming season and the past few ones. Recent cws with pastel palettes have given me a lot of pause (imo, dark, saturated colours suit me better so will be glad to see new cws). I heard this AW will be more substantial, colour-wise. But, unfortunately, I think the trend of re-issues/mash-ups and teeny-tiny prints will continue..

I have to agree with you about the baobab flower scarf with the cat head in it.... I just don’t get it :whut: Also agree about all of the mashups and remixes of late, not a fan AT all

I understand how people feel about the Baobab scarf, but I love it. I'm a cat lover to begin with, and I love how the center of the flower is so much like the Baobab flower, but replaced by a cat’s head.

I haven’t seen anything else in the upcoming designs that interests me, but I love this fantasy of a cat flower. I imagine a tree blooming with lots of cat flowers all over it, and that’s just delightful to me.

I swear I haven’t been smoking anything. ;) That’s just how I feel.

We all have our passions and I do respect other people's choices but even the most ardent cat lovers must agree they have been more than a little spoiled over the last few seasons. I love cats - I just don't want them dangling around my neck and Ardmore Artists have been a wonderful addition to the artist roster. I think the mash-up issue and the impulse to splat polka dots over everything or dumbing-down complex designs to the tattoo style is a more serious matter because it's got to the stage of intellectual laziness rather than a bit of playful zaniness. Please, Hermes, don't bore me - I won't pay in excess of £300 for that.

Hoping in the next week or so I'll be forced to eat my words and wind up with a shopping list as long as my arm..............I like to tempt fate....

Does anyone know what to expect of the Rocabar CSGM? I know the patern of the blanket and the perfume, but I have no idea what the shawl would be like.....I can't think that it's the usual Rocabar pattern/colours.....

Your post sounds very negative, you are not obliged to buy anything.

You're welcome! Glad you reminded me. :flowers:

And thank you, dear "lurking" scarfies, for all the Likes! :amuse: I know we're all just waiting. It's often this way. First, tidbits of info, then flood of photos, some "I don't like it", then pretty mod shots, lots of "Wow I love it!", "Oh my poor money tree!" :P, lots more mod shots, the predictable "Is it too much to get both/3 cw's/all cw's?", and finally, a chorus of "Get both/ Surely you're not going to leave 1 cw out from that set"!:graucho: :hugs:
