I bought an Hermès Picotin 18 from Vestiaire, paid for authentication and the bag is claimed as authentic.

Once I’ve received the bag, the dustbag seems to be off and I decided to send to bababebi and the result came that the bag is counterfeit!

Now I’m in contact again with Vestiare and they agree to do second authentication. But if they found the bag to be real after the second check, they told me that I will need to relist the bag & pay the fee to them as well.

So frustrated. Anybody has the same experience here? Or can recommend me any other Hermès authenticator?
The awful thing is if you have to re-list it with them you'll be re-listing a fake bag.
If you specify 'replica' Hermes Picotin then obviously that will mean that you loose a lot of money and what's more its still knowingly re-listing a fake and Vestiere actually being happy to sell it which is alarming for me.(it reflects very badly on them less so on you of course because you would state that its a replica)
Did you buy it from a private seller?
My understanding is that if you buy from a professional seller you are entitled to a refund.
I used to buy from Vestiere but I think they've become too big and as a by-product quality control and service is the pits.

Vestiaire authentication is a joke.

Vestiare are the worst. I once had purchased a rare pair of Louboutins there. I never buy shoes second hand but it was a model I was desperately after, an old collection and nowhere to find anymore. I ordered an extra authentication service from Vestiare, and once they arrived it was obvious they were fake. The quality of finishing, the labeling on the sole, the inside Stiches - all was different from the authentic pairs I got from the boutique. Send an angry email to Vestiare and they gave me my money back and asked to send the shoes in. One week later the shoes were on for sale again :wtf:

I just filed a dispute with Paypal as well. VC asked me to return the bag and do second check. But I’m already way disappointed here. They failed the first authentication and how should I trust them for the second one.

The thing why I decided to take it to bababebi started with the dustbag. From the logo, size and colour are really odd. Owning several Hermès bag (also a Picotin 18 in different colour) I bought directly from the store, my gut is telling me to just have bababebi check it for being safe.

For me now, I’m done with buying stuff with them.

Hello everyone! New member here

The topic of authentication caught my eye. I’m just about to purchase my second Birkin 30 (finally one in Gold - very excited!) from a reseller. The store said that the bag has been authenticated by Entrupy. Imo, the bag looks fine but I’m a little thrown off by the blind stamp. It’s kinda faded and I also do not recognise this symbol of a cross inside/overlaying a circle.

Anyone recognise the symbol in front of the 4NM? I’m hoping it isn’t a knock off! Everything else about the bag looks fine.

If you want peace of mind, you should pay for proper authentication. As far as I know, officially there are no authenticators in this forum.

As has been said here before, Bababebi is the gold standard and well worth it. End of discussion

Bababebi hands down
Dont bother with anyone else.
Do reseller sites such as fashionphile, Rebag, etc consider bababebi a valid authentication service ?

They all have authentication guarantee for their products, so if you challenged authenticity through a response from bababebi (that a product is not authentic) is that enough to demonstrate that the fashionphile/Rebag product is not authentic? And thus qualify for a refund etc?

This is my question as well. What’s the point of authentication from bababebi or equivalent if it’s not an accepted form of authentication by other businesses? In that case it may as well be a blind authentication if it bears no weight in these scenarios.

A secondhand retail business isn’t going to admit that it made an authentication mistake (though often times if the customer pushes hard enough, with evidence from bbbb, they will relent and allow the return). Instead, the authentication by sources like bbbb is important as it can be used as evidence for your payment method to agree to force a chargeback against the retailer.

Agree for the most part. It depends on the seller. VC won’t care because they are a pass through and it is a platform. Yes, they offer an auth service but their incentive to own up is low.

Just my opinion but a company like Fashionphile, different story. Backed by Neiman Marcus, they won’t want a a big accusation, especially for a high dollar item and with social media, news spreads fast. Companies like TRR, somewhere in the middle IMO

Believe it or not, eBay's auth service responds well to issues. They (and the seller) misidentified a leather on a bag I purchased and were quick to accept the mistake and set up a return. I did not use an outside authenticator and they did not ask me for backup.

I would not trust TRR as far as I can throw them especially with the no return policy. VC is a hotbed of fakes. But, any reseller that's a business, not a platform, will have to accept a chargeback from your credit card, and the good CCs (Amex Cent, Plat, Business Gold, Chase Sapphire, etc) will certainly accept a bababebi cert as evidence that a bag is inauthentic.

The businesses you mention have allowed returns with a bababebi certificate. Whether they subsequently decide to re list the bag concerned is a different and unrelated matter. Credit card companies accept authentication certificates from most authentication services, including bababebi.

Does anyone know where I can authenticate an Hermes belt? I just bought one from Brandear and since I don't own any Hermes in gold hardware the Kelly belt seems different than what I see in photos.
I contacted Bababebi who has authenticated my bags but she doesn't authenticate belts.
