Hermes 2016 - Anyone notice a difference in store inventory or experiences la...

I think it would be highly unlikely this would ever happen. B35 was the original birkin size and it still seems very popular... j

that seems inconceivable to me. in europe 35 is more popular, and it is the original H produced for J. Birkin. Hermes SAs always sound more enthusiastic about 35, and themselves they do get 35s.

I notice more stock in my local stores since 4Q last year. I think it's mainly due to the economy downturn and less spending by Chinese tourist. It's good for us locals as the SAs finally remember to call or Whatsapp me more regularly. I'd take this chance to purchase what I like, while I can. When the economy improves, things might be different again.

I do not see Kellys or Birkins on the shelves as I did 10-15 years ago.

i don't think that means there aren't a lot of Ks and Bs. i think H has realized (they didnt back in 2007-2008 in financial crisis) that resellers buy it and immediately markup and sell. H would be smart not to let K and B's go to resellers. H needs to channel traffic to its stores so there would be a possiblity to cross sell other items. if we can only get K and B's at the resellers, we would then stop going to H stores as much and that would be bad for other products. it is obvious H is trying to sell more than bags and diversify it's product line. So, even if there were a lot of K and B's, they wouldn't want to take them out for sale to any walk-in. they want the SA to make sure the customer is a real customer and not someone that would just buy and immediately mark up to sell. it is a marketing scheme. H knows marketing very well. just like the CDCs and other hotter items like rodeos...they don't place all there stock out for all to see. lots of things are kept inside the backroom...

anyway, i am new to this forum and new to H...but i just feel that there are a lot more B and Ks than before. it isn't that hard to get one anymore, which is a good thing :)

Hi everyone. Im from México and i see more inventory of other lines like silk and bracelets wallets belts. But the key products like B, K and constance bag are the same. Last year was 0 Birkins and kellys size 40. Impossible to get.

I see a lot more Lindys in every store. Back in 2013-2014 when I was looking for mine, I had to ask high and low and searched for a few months before finding a lindy in size 30 (and only 1 color available at that store). Now i see them on the shelves in 6 diff. colors and in every size!!

damn not 'death' 'detax' - why autocorrect is so stubborn?

:roflmfao: this was so funny but apt

For me I have not seen any constance wallet in stores. I see lots more lindy and cdcs on display when some years back you got to ask if they happen to have any in their stockroom.

Though I feel like my local H had a decent amount of CDCs when I first started going there, there is definitely more inventory of many things...CDCs, handbags, wallets, charms etc. Not sure if it was related to Mother's Day but the shelves were pretty stocked, more than ever. Wonder if it makes people certain products feel less special now that it is more readily available because part of the H charm and selling formula was the fun of the hunt or the offer.

Maybe I've just been visiting well stocked stores but I've seen more bags every time I visit compared to few years ago. When I asked for certain bags back then they all said no. But these days I'll be getting two scarves, SA wanted to show me a flamingo Lindy (it was last year) when they had zero Lindy on display. I picked up a Rodeo couple weeks ago, SA insists he has more bags to show than the displays (which btw was plenty) including Constances.

It was a bit funny as I really wanted another Constance for few years and gave up as they all said those are really rare these days!

I know what you mean by feeling less special with more supply. Chanel classic flaps in hot current colors used to be reserved for the customers who got on the list few months before the release. But now there's really no need for the hunt as they are readily available almost everywhere. I think that was around the time I stopped buying those darn flaps! They didn't feel that much special as before.

There is a huge increase in inventory in my local boutique in b/ks and slgs and other bags such as lindys...and on the major shopping street saw in the wild: black box kelly, black birkin, etoupe birkin walk by in no less than 5 min apart.
Then walked into Barneys and used to be one or two Delvaux bags...yesterday there were a dozen on display....hmmm kind of fun to be on the hunt but these "rare" bags are now so much easier to get.

Lots of interesting observances. I also feel like Hermes and Adams are more on trend now days by ordering more smaller bags, mini Halzan, B25, K25, mini Constance, etc. There definitely have been more reveals of those sizes than in the past.

If what I was told a few years back, H was ramping up production in attempt to meet more demand. The economy, despite what is printed and touted is not doing well and in fact, experts in the financial industry said it would not return to the era prior to the housing derivatives (betting on which mortgages would fail) of '07 and '08.

While we see more luxury goods available, could it be people are holding onto their money more as are banks? When things are uncertain, there is less spending. (Probably why Hermes flip-flopped on the prices of silks a year or so ago. There must have been a significant drop in sales at $400 for a scarf. Just my take . . .

I have a friend who lives in one state. Her DH was on a trip out of state and so she called the H store and asked for a K28 or 32. They put her in touch with the leather goods SA and she got a call the next day and was offered a K28 as well as a K in an exotic. She has no history at this store and no relationship with any of the SA's. Her husband went and purchased the K for her and the rest is history. Definitely a sign that maybe the economy is shifting when it comes to luxury items? Interesting story nonetheless.

Wow! from what I read on this forum (I am new to H), that would've been completely unheard of during the better economy. Did her husband also have to buy other things? all he bought was the K?

It's still pretty unheard of actually! She was shocked that they were so accommodating! Her husband didn't buy anything else! Just that one K!

Yes, definitely more and better stocks in my local store! I also noticed that the U.S. stores have better and up to date styles and bags than the European stores that I visited... But not yet back in the days when I walked in the store and purchased my birkin on the shelf :)
