Thank you, CB! :smile1:

Jag, here is a thread from the Feedback Dropbox subforum on how to watermark photos - http://forum.purseblog.com/feedback-dropbox/how-to-watermark-your-photos-19438.html

If you don't want to download the freeware program, and if you have Photoshop, changing the opacity can be done by, after entering your text, on the right hand side, there should be a window that says "Layers". Make sure the layer that has your text is selected, and move the opacity slider down until you get the desired percentage (anywhere from 10-20 percent opacity seems to work well) of transparency.

A template watermark from Vlad/Megs would be ideal, much like a corporate logo, and hopefully every member will use it when posting images on tPF, provided they have instructions on how to create layers/merge/flatten layers.

I suggest a simple phrasing - with the poster's initials or handle (optional):
"for thePurseForum use ONLY"
"for thePurseBlog use ONLY"
"for tPF use ONLY"

The phrase "do not copy" won't help much I'm afraid, because if it's on some other site, it's assumed that site owner watermarked those themselves for non-distribution... argh!

That's horrible! The nerve on some people... A big hug to everyone whose pics got stolen.. Do you think they'd take the pics down if the owners of each pic would contact them? Just an idea, I know for a fact I wouldn't want my beauties posted on a fake bag website. Couldn't hurt to try!

Thanks. I agree the watermark on mine takes away from the photo. I just started using Batch Watermark Creator after browsing some recommended programs from Cnet.com I think. I was so anxious to share pics I didn't take the time to really learn the program to figure out how to layer a few lines versus the whole page and to play with all the other features lol. And I was so ticked :cursing: when I made the template that I was gonna make extra certain they couldn't just cover it up with their own mark as I have been seeing some do now when you just have one or two lines of text...they put a highlight feature on it to cover over your words and then type their own words on top of it. So keep that tactic in mind when designing the template.

Yes, this is VERY good choice of words, blkladyLAW! :p

The phrase "authorized only for use on..." are powerful words.

Oh! Sorry, Vlad. I read the posts backwards and just read your post. Thank you so much.

If I am not wrong, there is a function available on forums, where every picture attachment automatically gets watermarked, and there is a standard naming convention.

Can't wait for something/anything that can thwart the misuse of these *&%$^ scammers. I hate these guys!

I tinker with Adobe Photoshop, so text is one layer, and the image (i.e. handbag) is another layer. Anyone opening the image with the same application can remove the text layer (i'm 99% sure), if the owner of the image doesn't "flatten" the layers into one. So just a thought for PS users to save a copy on your comp for future use, and flatten the layers for the copy you upload to the web.
