I just recently purchased 2 Cartier Watches. I think Cartier is more classic than Chanel. The salesperson told me that I would regret the sizes that I purchased. I got the BB SS 28mm and the Tank Francaise small SS. He told me I should have gone with mid-size. I personally feel the small sizes look best on smaller ladies and also I think that the big watch is a trend. I felt I couldn't go wrong going classic and smaller since I want to keep these watches for many years to come. The salesperson I bought them from told me I made a huge mistake and that no one is buying the BB 28 and the small Tank Francaise. I hope he was wrong. I spent a lot of money :/

I got the small SS Tank Francaise 12 years ago & I still wear it daily. Love it! I'm only 5'1" & I thought any bigger watch looked too big on me. Now I have my eye on a SS/YG BB :) I feel certain I would get the 28mm also.

Thanks for replying! I was questioning my purchases but now I feel better. I have to say when I tried on the medium BB it looked like I was wearing a man's watch. It didn't look right on me. I'm more into classic watches than trends so maybe that also influenced my decision, too. Although the salesperson said that the big watch is here to stay and I made a big mistake with both watches. :/

I have small wrist and I have the small Tank Francaise. I wanted to get the mid-size but the SA (who is a lady) advised me to get the small size as the mid size will look too big on me. IMHO, it all depends on how the watch look on your wrist rather than the size of the watch itself.enjoy your watches! You can't go wrong with any Cartier watches :)

Wow! Thanks Stmary! I'm so glad you told me the salesgirl advised you to get the small TF! It makes me feel so much better! My husband came with me for both watch purchases and told me the smalls looked much better than the medium sized one's. I also knew that I wanted the small in both the TF and the BB before I went to buy them but after purchasing them I questioned it because the salesclerk at my local store told me I was making a big mistake. That Big was in and small is dying and not coming back. My husband said he just wanted the extra commission from the bigger priced tagged medium Cartier's. I know my husband was happy that the price was less on each of the smaller one's! LOL!

I was kinda in the same situation last year before the price increase. In the end, My DH got me the rose love bracelet first, a few months later I bought the 33mm BB myself.

Now after breaking it in almost a year later, if I had to part with one item, I think it would be more difficult for me to let go of the bracelet. So my vote is for the bracelet if I have to get one now. It's becoming a part of me as it got more wear. I still love the BB and actually got more compliments from it, but I actually think it's more maintenance. I have to be more careful since it's automatic so I refrain from shaking my hand or running with it. It might also have to do with the fact that I'm a full-time mom right now. Sometimes I wish I could just let the watch sit for a few years and enjoy it later, but then I'm too afraid the oil inside may dry up from idling too long. Another thing is the hands are not luminous in the dark like higher end models. Honestly I wear the watch as an accessory because half the time I tell time by looking at the cell phone or clock. So as accessories, the bracelet is easier to maintain. That said, it still makes my heart skips a beat just looking at the watch.

Hope my personal experience helps. Ultimately go with what sings to you most. They are both beautiful and I don't regret getting either of them.

Definitely get what you like best. Try them ALL on and think about how you might wear them with other jewelry , how often, what is best for your lifestyle etc.
I had a similar experience with my EX b/f last Valentines Day. He asked me what I wanted and I told him the "LOVE" bracelet. I have wanted a gold bracelet for over a decade and this became thee one in my mind. He ended up buying me a new car instead. I am not an ungrateful person but I never drive. My old car suited me just fine ! Long story short he bought the car because he wanted it ! He had also said he just couldn't justify buying a piece of jewelry that was so expensive. I DID point out that cars lose value right after they are driven off the lot but his gift was lovely. Though I couldn't care less about having the latest greatest car . I sold some old jewelry that I bought while I was in my 20's and didn't wear anymore. Beautiful stuff but my taste has changed with age.
I got my LOVE !!! No regrets ! I rarely wear a watch but when I do it's an inexpensive Citizen. I have a couple valuable watches that were passed down to me one being a Patek Philippe Nautilus that I scratched the crystal on. The other is a Cartier TF. I love them both so much but I will only wear them now if i'm going someplace special
This is just my taste of course and you should always go with your instinct ! Good luck ! :)

When my ex and I broke up he took the new car and gave me his old one ! LOL

I'm 5'6 but have small wrists and got the BB 28 as well. I love it and have never questioned my decision. The other sizes didn't look as good IMO. You have to have your own style and get what looks good and feels good on you. I did want to add that I just love how the larger sizes look on some of the ladies on tpf! Love!

I like the Cartier watch, very classic :)

I believe white gold changes colour over time so you might want to consider this also when deciding about the bracelet.

Regarding your bf not being supportive, I feel that if you saved the money it's yours to do as you wish. If you are planning a future together or if he will match your 6k then that is another discussion.

As a married mum of 2 with a house car blah blah spend your money as you chose on something classic, family's are expensive and there is plenty of time for those things

I don't have the BB but I have a Rolex and that exact J12. I found that I wear the J12 more often just because it's more durable, no scratch, etc. so you might want to consider your lifestyle. The J12 is more casual and sporty.

#1 for sure. Start with the watch and then get the bracelet later. Pass on the J12. I absolutely love it too but Cartier is classic. They are known for their watches and the customer service to maintain it is great. You will wear it for years. My concern with the white is it may get dirty and dull over time. I wanted to purchase the white Chanel Camilla ring and the gentleman at the shop told me it does yellow over time. So I passed. Just something to think about.

I would agree with other members and say if you are financially stable and have at least 5 months of your monthly salary in savings after you spend the money on your luxe item, then I would definitely go for it. You never know a rainy day may come, car problem, job sitch.
Also, how serious are you with your bf? It's not by chance that money is the #1 cause of divorce, so it may come back and be an issue of resentment later.
