some very valid points here! I'm a sucker for even numbers so the 2 carat draws me in, but go with whatever ring makes your heart flutter :D

Same here, if I want to go 2 carats, I'll get 2 carats on paper! BUT for 10k and no visual difference, and as skyqueen mentioned, the 1.92 may look the same or even bigger than a 2 carat then it's definitely NOT worth it! Now if you wanted to go over 2, like 2.10 + I'd pay extra, especially if you aren't happy knowing you're under 2 carats down the line. Jen, will you be wanting something bigger down the road? As whoops mentioned, you can use what you save towards the soleste but! I know you always say you aren't a rhr kinda girl! If i were you, I'd put all I can without creating any financial strain into my upgrade since realistically you "only upgrade once.". Your situation kinda reminds me of acrowcounted - she regretted not putting in more to go 3+. So, it's up to you and what you really want and what makes you happy. Since it's not happening right now, you have a lot of time to think, try on different sizes and request quotes etc. to see what appeals to you and your budget. good luck!

.8 to 1.2 to 1.5, hmm now to 1.92. Ever thought to look at 2.3 to 2.4 too, this is your last upgrade especially?

I kind of agree with scarlet. Upgrading seems like a lot of work for only a 0.4ct increase. And it does seem likely that you'll want bigger again soon. Can you even see that much difference in size? I know that when I started my first upgrade, I was very underwhelmed with the coverage difference between my 1.33 and the 1.9s that I looked at originally...

Thanks Khol! It's a tough call... mentally I'd love to have it actually be 2 "just because" - seems a shame to go all the way up to .08 away from 2 and not all the way to 2! But the practical side of me says no it's so not worth an extra $10K... I think I'll have her bring something up to 2.1 in and see what I think! They had a 2.13 in the store and I could see the difference between that and the 1.86 they had for sure. But I think it was $57K and an H so I'm a bit nervous!! That's getting up there.

Wow you have a very good memory scarlet! That pretty much sums up my past! LOL... Well I know I DID say this at 1.5... but I really don't think I would feel comfortable with anything greatly over 2.0. I think for ME, although I DIE when I see them in the store, it would be too flashy? Literally NONE of my friends have anything bigger than 1.5. Like literally I don't think I know a person in real life that has one bigger than that (well, at least!) and I think I would start to feel really self conscious. Not to mention that 2.3/2.4 it is definitely out of our budget. I have to admit though b/c this is a one time deal I'm tempted to go to 2.10 say if I can swing it!

OMG yes you can totally see the difference is size!! Well I can anyway! I've seen your ring - you are so out of my league! :) It's a stunner!! I would have so happily taken your "old" 2.4 ring. To me 1.9 or 2 is huge though, both presence and budget wise, and I'm sure most girls would be more than thrilled with the coverage anything close to 2.0 would give... so I'm pretty sure I won't want bigger again soon! .4 to .5 is a 25% increase too... pretty good upgrade I think! :)

Not worth it. Unless you plan to upgrade again, at which case if you can't, you'd have to shell out 50 G instead of 15 G. Does it look that different in person? I can tell the difference betw 1.2 and 1.3, so I'm thinking yes. Either way, you are a lucky to get either one. This is a win win situation!

The real problem is that once you decide to go for the 2.1ct at 56k, they'll show you a 2.2ct for 58k, and then a 2.3ct for 62k...that's what got me anyway. Especially once you get over that critical carat mark, additional caratage seems cheap in comparison.

Hey girls!

Just re-read all these posts, thanks so much for walking me through this!

Still thinking about what to do...

I'm in FL and had them bring 3 rings in today for me to see! Waddled in to try them on ... LOL... I can't try any clothing on anymore but this is pretty fun! :)

Okay so for those who like to follow this kind of thing... :) Here is my master list of "what's out there" right now:

1.98 H VS1 $38,600
1.92 G VS2 $41,100
1.94 G VS1 $46,100
2.0 G VS1 59,00
2.04 H VS2 $46,600
2.10 G VS2 $56,500
2.10 G VS2 56,500
2.12 G VS2 57,500
2.21 I VVS2 46,900

So today I tried the
1.94 G VS1, $46,100, ex/vg/ex... the
2.0 G VS1, $59,000, triple ex (!) and the
2.21 I VVS2, ex/vg/ex, $46,900

Very interesting experience! What I came away with from these three was that:
a) I definitely want to stick to G or MAYBE H, but since I'm more colour picky than clarity picky I think G's my sweet spot! If ANYTHING could have swung my vote to "I" colour it's that 2.21 for "only" (relatively speaking) $46,900 - OMG what a RING!! Serious bang for the buck!! But I can't help it - I see colour in it. I can only see colour in the G if held up to a D. So that ruled out the GORGEOUS 2.21 but OMG the size got to me!!
b) I can't see a difference of .08 - .10 with the eye... but
c) I can definitely spot .18 difference in this size... and
d) I kinda want a 2+ now! Like 2.01 would be fine. TRYING not to and to be "smart" about it... but it's like you're sooo close... you might as well put off that next smaller purchase and just go for it now, KWIM? It's a one time thing! Slowly slipping down that slope... LOL... I think a gorgeous 1.98 deal could sway me though.
e) That 2.0 was ridiculously pretty and SO mind clean... but just too much to justify as I can't see the VS2-VS1 difference. For that reason I'd take the 1.92 over the 1.94 if I stay under 2.0 and save $5K. So that ruled out the 1.94.

So... none of those three is my ring yet!

Which is totally okay... it would seem rushed to do it this week, and Toronto is bringing me in two beauties as we speak!

The 1.92 G VS2 $41,100 and the 2.10 G VS2, $56,500.

I'm LEANING towards the 2.10. eek!

I've also begged her to search for something right down the middle around 1.98 - 2.05 kind of thing and closer to $50K. So HOPEFULLY I'll have 3 more G's to look at sometime in January and one of them will be my girl!

Will post when I see more!!

Well at this point I am inclined to say you need to go over 2. Because I am concerned that if you don't you will feel you settled. DO NOT SETTLE, this is your final upgrade. Do it right!
