Moma, You must keep this Lotus. The sage green looks beautiful on you. I love how you have paired it with mauve-pink sweater to highlight the petals. This is my favorite of today's current showings. Came back to add that it shows so beautifully paired with your green sweater, too. Please keep this one!!!

First up is Costume de Fete, which I’ve had for 2 days. Pretty sure it’s a keeper. I’m comfortable with bright colors and, while I thought I had similar bright/black scarves, I actually don’t!

I also have an exploding scarf collection…DH often asks how I can possibly wear them all. I decided that I’m going to try to wear a different one every day (and document) so I love your ambition of imposing order on your collection.
I think this Costume de Fete looks amazing on you! My SA actually showed it to me on Friday and I chose two other silks instead but your photos are making me second guess. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY KEEP IT!

I’m even going to go out on a limb re: Costume—looks fab on you, but H has done tons of strong, vibrant, dark blue/black background cws. Is this the one for you? I’m thinking of some of the Tohu Bohu cws and Au Coeur de La Vie for example; here’s where the design comes in. If you’re looking for a vibrant dark, riot of color scarf, is this the best iteration of that? Do you just want a new one?

There’s no argument that it’s fabulous on you but when the pile gets too big….
And the Duo Cosmique in noir/vert/multi…which is the reason I did not take the Costume home with me!

I am not the moussie queen—you all have me confused with @lanit @Cookiefiend @bunnycat or @scarf1. I only have 8, and two are stoles.

A moussie is next up, by the way. Here’s the problem—the design is all in the center and it’s so difficult to show. So it just looks like a tangerine scarf (changeant, I think, but not dramatically so.)

How about a pic with no makeup and one with a little lippie: I had to fuss to get even this little bit of the design to show.

So, those are today's challenges! I have a similar colored Mozart, but will wait until after his birthday.
I absolutely love the Fleurs de Lotus, especially with both of those sweaters. Keeper for sure, and I love the fencing one. Anything with that lovely balance of French words and design elements, in what looks to be a neutral I find so elegant. The others are just so-so in comparison, imo. Warm wishes, and bon chance on your decision making!

I'm sorry I'm late to the party, I haven't read all the posts so probably someone's already said the same.

Costume de Fete looks good on you. Just wear it with black and red lipstick. It's a party scarf, it's the life and soul of any party, but it needs to go to the party without competition.

Rather than go scarf by scarf, maybe work out what makes you really love/not-so-love certain scarves. I.e. which themes, sentiment, best colours, favourite artists etc. If that means keeping all Fetes Venitiennes and getting rid of every gav so be it (not a suggestion, just an example).

It does help to see you in scarves though. Design: (Only IMO) I think you look best in bold, luscious prints, even better with definite curves (in the design). I don't think you look as good in the ultra-femme, wispy, ditsy prints. You can take high-contrasts and complimentary colours too, and the stronger earth tones. Those greyed, low-contrast colours need strong lines to make them work.

As is often the case, papertiger articulated the thought forming in my mind about why some designs work so much better for you than others. The strong lines/strong colors really sing on you.

As an example, I love the whimsy of Traites but the grey version is sort of blah on you. You may not be generally partial to black and gold cws but that version is more vibrant and I like it on you. It reminds me of that scarf thread about which scarf to wear to an ‘I’m in charge here’ meeting. In this one you’re definitely the boss lady

Agreed. I also don't like the cool grey against the warm beige of the second Traites. Hermes does that cool/warm mixing quite a bit (I'm thinking of every cw of Jonques et Sanpans) and lots of people love it, but it bugs me.
Thanks so much for these considered thoughts. I know the bright bold scarves are no brainers for me, which is why I sometimes resist them. Even though I am loud, I don't always want to have to live up to my scarf - does that make sense? I am attracted to pastels and such, for calmer days, but need to find ways to make them work (or learn which parts of the pastel color wheel are best). And a large collection needs some variety, I think. I love how everyone is making me look closely and think deeply!

And I absolutely loathe the small, squirrelly designs and the cartoons. So @papertiger's comment on wispy ditsy prints is interesting. Also the curves - I had not thought about that element, as I have lots of geometrics, which I adore. Much to contemplate and explore. I appreciate this!

Thank you! I have such a soft spot for the vintage pieces. The printing, the details - just so much more beautiful than the latest scarves, IMO.

Thanks so much. I am a sucker for writing on scarves, 17th and 18th c books, men in tight pants.
