Just ordered this this from Scaramanga:

http://www.scaramangashop.co.uk/fashion/leather-bags/for-her/leather-satchel-bags/medium-wide-vintage-leather-satchel-with-front-pocket-15-inch/prod_1506.html

And a distressed leather luggage tag. Been wanting a Scaramanga satchel for a couple of years.

$148 incl. shipping. Still looking for a bag to replace my returned DB received as a gift (see original post).

I can't figure out how to post a photo from an iPad.

Would love to see real life pics when you get it. This is one of the styles I'm thinking about. Can't make up my mind which bag style/size and which type of leather just yet.

I'm looking at the classic leather tote. I love the blue color of one of the mid-size totes in the picture. I can't stop thinking about what an awesome summer bag that would be, especially if it's soft, squishy leather as described.
The bag you're describing sounds awesome, too, especially in a mix of leather colors. Now, I might want on like that, too, for fall... Or maybe an Indiana Jones pack of some kind. I have a pouch/swing bag I got from Marc O Polo when I lived in Germany a couple years ago that kind of has that "look", though. I wish I knew how to post a link to that site.

She has a couple of pretty blues. I wish she had a darker blue. Curious about the Concord color, too. And the tote is certainly a nice design. Nice selection of fabrics for the lining, too.
I carry black or brown bags all year, I never have been one for colored bags, though I'd like a nice red bag when I find one. Reds are funny colors to work with for me, I only like cool reds but not a wine or burgundy. I have a beautiful, slouchy pebble grain bespoke backpack from The Village Tannery in Greenwich Village, NYC that I won't carry because the red is a little more warm in hue than I like. Take a look at a bag called the Cico. It's a red backpacky looking bag (not the design i have but it's the leather and color). I'm an idiot, right? It's a pretty color and I am not sure about it.
They make beautiful bags there and not expensive.

I know what you are looking for... take a look: I haven't time to pinpoint the satchel you need, but I think you will like the leathers these two companies make:

Has anyone recommended Campomaggi bags from Italy?

I am lusting after one of these rugged distressed travel worthy bags.

I've looked at Clava and the McCullough Brothers leathers but they seem a bit too polished for my liking and while I love Frye boots, I'm not sure how heavy their bags are.

Oh I see you already ordered... good luck and post back when you receive it!

Hey Queen,
I decided on the distressed because I think that's what makes Scaramanga bags special. The polished tan leather, honestly, looks like a bag you could buy from any of a dozen vendors. We've seen similar finished leather from a lot of designers but rarely have I seen real distressed leather like this. (Roots makes Tribe leather which is mildly vintage-looking but it hasn't walked on the wild side like the Scaramanga distressed).

Now, buying a bag that doesn't look all shiny new kinda goes against the grain for me, my bags are immaculate and if I bought the polished leather I know I'd try to keep it pristine, too. The appeal of Scaramanga (and all they offered for years) is the beat up, funky, been-down-the-road-more-than-a-few-times vintage look of the leather. And that's what's gonna make the bag stand out from the rest.

Hi, RainRowan,
Those bags are beautiful and I bookmarked the site. Thanks! I have a huge black leather Clava backpack I travel with, and their bags aren't what I'm looking for this time, either. Took a good long look at the Frye Cameron Satchel, nice bag, I decided it was a little too 'polished' for what I wanted right now.

Did you take a look to my link ? ;)
Some years ago I was looking for an Indiana bag as well, this is where I purchased it. :)

I'm sorry for not replying, Silrin. I did look at Far Horizon and bookmarked the site. They have some nice bags, a little deeper than a traditional school-type satchel, but I'd like a bigger bag, too, and I think the Savana model is a possibility.

It's ok, everyone is trying to help. :smile1:

One thing to keep in mind though if you want to purchase from them. When the bag arrived, it smelled terribly !
It took a few days to make the smell disappear by leaving the bag in the kitchen.

Except from this, I was quite happy with the purchase, it had "the look". (I got the explorer model).
And it has nos moved since then.

Those are beautiful bags. I can't figure out how to work the website. It seems that you have to call or visit the store in person to find out the prices? I'm going to put that store on my list to visit the next time I'm in NYC!

I have a thing for leather goods, and have the chance to live near this incredible leather artisan. I have purchased (too) many bags from him as I am in awe of his craftsmanship. One of my favorites is my *vintage* mailbag. Don't be put of by the appearance of the website, and no, not all the bags are fantastic either IMO, but there are truly some amazing finds. I mostly buy the messenger styles from him, and they never fail to receive compliments each time I wear them.
