OMG, I'm in love with Scaramanga now. Did you look at the Satchel & Travel bag tabs? Most of those do seem to have front pockets. Just the Messengers don't.

I've been watching Scaramanga a while now. Prices seem reasonable, going to give them another look, thanks for the heads up about the front pockets. I found the Scaramanga browsing through a Flickr group 'what's in your bag?'.
I see some cool bags that way.

Hmmmm. I got mine last year. Wonder if I can trade it in or something. Side metal rings would be awesome...

They must've upgraded... The Nordies pics show the side rings but even the Macy's pics show the top attachment still. I might want to go back and look I guess. Nordies doesn't look like they have the taupe any more though. I wonder if some of the newer colors have side rings but the older ones don't... Glad you chimed in about this or I would've never known!

The Cameron Satchel on the official Frye site shows no side rings, though. At least the only side photo they display doesn't. Looks like the side view shot is of a Taupe bag.

Yeah, I saw that too. Really confused on why they don't call the new one the II or something. I think some sites are just using the old pics to sell the updated product. No idea why the Frye site hasn't changed yet. Weird.

What's kind of funny is that this:

Is the real Indiana Jones satchel. I never paid much attention to the films and made an incorrect assumption that the Indy bag was a beat up leather bag.

So I guess I should amend my search to: Looking for a distressed leather satchel with front pockets that doesn't look like a briefcase. So many of this style bag look the same. I'm looking for one just different somehow.
A gas mask bag?! I had no idea.

Which one are you liking, QueenLouis?
I'm liking the Medium Wide Vintage Leather Satchel With Front Pocket 15 Inch.

What do you think of the distressed leather version, though? Looks pretty beat up. Not sure if I want it *that* distressed. Want to hear other folks' opinion.

Also, do you think this bag is going to pick up dye, dirt and stains like the Florentine Vachetta bag I returned? I did email Scaramanga but don't know if I will get a reply.

Do you think that leather will break in? The shape kinda looks like a Cambridge satchel. I'd go for the regular leather and let time do its thing. :) more real to distress it yourself. With predistressed items I always wonder if it means the product will actually have a shorter lifespan because of what was done to it. That was kinda why I liked the Frye - the distressed look came from the dye job as opposed to actually beat up leather.

I think it will break in. I'm kinda now inclined towards the distressed one, all my bags look like new, I take very good care of them so it would be interesting to have a bag that looked a bit worn.

I am curious if treating the leather might tone down the distressed effect a little. One user comment said she treated her bag with olive oil. I wouldn't do that, but I wonder if a non-lanolin conditioner like the Cadillac Boot and Shoe I use on EVERYTHING would soften the distressed look a bit.

Which ONE do I like?? I have about 6 sitting in my shopping cart! LOL! I'm going to try to whittle that down to one and give them a shot. Probably return my unused Fossil vintage reissue messenger to make up for it. This is more what I was looking for when I bought that one. I had in mind the kind of satchel an explorer would be wearing to Africa during the times of Livingstone.

I'm loving their furniture and trunks too. Unfortunately, I don't think that's a possibility going from UK to US.

I personally really like the look of their distressed leather.

Oh, gosh, quick question.....never ordered from the UK before. Scaramanga site says the bags may be liable for duty and customs.

How does this work, if you have to pay it when/ how do you pay and how much could it cost on an ~$150 item?

Just spent another hour looking at her bags. The 3 Way Porter XL is really nice. Not the satchel I was originally looking for but such a nice bag. Love the thick drawstrings and interior organization!

I emailed her through her regular website about a leather that isn't fragile like the DB Vachetta.

Let me know, if you don't mind, what she says about the leather. I'm thinking of adding one of these bags to my collection as well...;)

2nd this, please!

Oh, absolutely I will let you know. Have not got a response so far.

Which styles are you looking at and which leathers? I was considering the 3Way Porter XL and if she emails me back I want to know also if I can do the body of the bag one color and the strap and drawstring in another. I've always liked black and dark brown together on a bag and was thinking of an espresso or oxblood bag with black trim.

Judging by the leather descriptions, I am guessing that the black, espresso and perhaps the oxblood are leathers with more of a 'finish' on them.

I'm looking at the classic leather tote. I love the blue color of one of the mid-size totes in the picture. I can't stop thinking about what an awesome summer bag that would be, especially if it's soft, squishy leather as described.
The bag you're describing sounds awesome, too, especially in a mix of leather colors. Now, I might want on like that, too, for fall... Or maybe an Indiana Jones pack of some kind. I have a pouch/swing bag I got from Marc O Polo when I lived in Germany a couple years ago that kind of has that "look", though. I wish I knew how to post a link to that site.
