Congratulations!! What a happy decision to make!!

I love both~but in the idea of upgrading, it seems sentimental to me to stay with the round because that is what you started with. But of course that is only my opinion.

Princess cut are gorgeous. But there is something about a clssic round...especially in a solitare that is just elegant and timeless.

Good luck with your decision...they both look beautiful on your hands.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you prefer the princess. You fell in love with a princess cut stone originally but went with round because a princess was not available at your jeweler of choice. Plus, if your husband hadn't said anything, you would have definitely gone with the princess.

As for me, I have never cared for round solitaires - especially large ones. They have always seemed cumbersome and awkward. The princess is more sleek and modern and looks better on the finger. From the pics you have taken, I also think the princess looks better when worn with the diamond band - they look like they belong together.

I believe you should have the princess cut. Nothing will replace the emotion tied to your original ring, and the upgrade, although beautiful is essentially the same. Diamonds are very personal and usually suit the particular woman. The lucida has been around for a decade and is now destined to be a classic if it isn't already. The round diamond is beautiful but I am sure you are different now, from ten years ago. I think the princess cut is modern, sophisticated and adventurous. It shines with more brilliance and is a stunning cut. It is breathtaking and quite moving.

I was recently faced with the same dilemma at the Tiffany counter and I chose the Lucida in platinum, and my husband could not be prouder.

It is your choice of course, I am sure we all wish the best for you. It is very exciting!

I LOVE the round! it is just GORGEOUS on you!! so classic and elegant but definitely makes a statement!:drool:
Personally I'm not crazy about the edges of the princess, its a little angular for my taste but it is still absolutely stunning and also looks amazing on you!

I love the princess cut, especially with your wedding band. It looks sleek and edgy at the same time; very chic to have a little mix-up with the non-matchy set.

And besides, you already have a Tiffany RB (for wedding set consistency/a "dressed down diamond" look-all the more reason to switch up your diamond shapes. Diamonds are fun; you should feel free to play around with your rings' looks; and don't worry about whether or not your princess will look dated. I have an asscher; those little beauties were impossible to find just a few short years ago, and now the vintage deco look is becoming popular again (although some jewelers still comment on my "unique princess cut"!!!). My point is, if you're worried about the cut looking dated, just remember: everything comes back into style eventually! :)

I normally don't like round solitaires, but I prefer the round diamond. This is just my personal opinion, but I think princess cuts look very dated. The round is a classic ring.

Well, I've flip flopped all day and really truly appreciate ALL of your comments.

I do love both and will feel sad about whatever one I don't choose (hopefully not for long). But I can only choose 1.

I know I can't go wrong with the round. Its an iconic ring and shape for a reason. I want something new and fresh that is still timeless, which both stones and settings accomplish. I also love both for their simplicity yet striking glamour.

While I worry about how angular the princess is in the pictures, it doesn't look so harsh on my hand (from my perspective). A gf teased it by refering to the princess as "Phyllis Diller". Quite frankly I don't want to be tacky (is it tacky round lovers?). Funny thing is she prefers dainty pieces and later changed her mind from prefering the round to prefering the princess. So I guess it grows on people. Just don't want "ew" comments about it.

So tonight ladies, I am feeling like I am leaning towards the princess (as I am keeping the original RB).
But I'll see which one I think about 1st in the morning (as a test). I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks again everyone!!!
