I think you should not let this go! That's a good amount of money, and having just used a store credit last month after the memorial day sale, I know that there wasn't an expiration on my credit, so for them to make one up now seems fishy.

I HATE what the new owners are doing, it's just sad. Toni and Ben were really making progress in their comeback, and the new owners are just trashing it all over again.

Oh, and placed an order on 6/25. Chatting with Joanna now and the order will be in the next shipment, possibly. How in the world can one order HH as a gift, if you don't know when or if it will be delivered???

i already wrote back to them to tell them that i don't believe i was ever told when the credits were issued that they expired. i have no idea what the FAQ might have said back then, though. i honestly have absolutely no idea what the credits were from - i have a partial record, but not all way the way back to the beginning, unfortunately.

even better is the gift card that they told me has no value and i KNOW it had a certain amount on it, but besides me saying that i don't know what else to do.

i definitely wouldn't gift HH at this point, for the reason you pointed out and also that i can't imagine what would happen if i got a damaged item and how long it would take to resolve.

What?!?!????? They EXPIRE?! Where/when did u agree to this?

i don't think i did. i did see in their current FAQ, that they do note that store credits expire in one year.

luckily, in searching through my gmail, i found where the original store credit was issued, and it says IN the email that store credits never expire. even if they changed their terms, they never notified me, and i think that's wrong. i'll forward them the email.

I just talked to our lawyer at work and he says he's not sure if store credits can expire or not, but no matter what they'd need to tell you at the time of issuing the credit. If the expiration date was not conveyed at the time of issuance it cannot arbitrarily expire. I asked specifically about store credits that were issued in place of a refund. This isn't something we deal with, so he's not an expert, but we do a lot with gift cards and e-commerce so he is an expert in all that.

thanks for the info, mt. i'll just wait now and see what they say. they literally have responded to me once out of the last 5 or so times that they either gave me a date or i emailed them, so we'll see how long this reply takes.

This is unconscionable. I thought that with professional management this kind of underhanded behavior would end. Apparently not.

I do understand them wanting to have better control over their liabilities, but expiries need to be clearly articulated at the time the credit is issued. Previously issued credit needs to be grandfathered under the original terms.

I really hope you can get this straightened out. Keep emailing, calling, etc. if you have to. That is just wrong that store credits could expire that quickly and quietly. That is really poor business practice. I would say to report them to the BBB, but they already have an F rating on there anyways, don't they?

So glad you were able to find this in writing. You're right: it is definitely WRONG!

to their credit, i think i've had the credit for almost two years. but i guess there was basis for me never thinking about there being an expiration date.

i thought about the BBB, too! sad, isn't it?

Well, shizzzzllleee. I rec'd my Laura in Rose. I love the color, but I noticed that the magnet on the bag is bad- as in it doesn't connect the sides at all like the other Laura I had. I briefly considered trying to use my hubb's little magnetic tool to fix it, but I am afraid it will f-up the leather. Crap. Suggestions?

On the other hand, my Rose pilot gets softer every day. I have no idea what leather they used to make that color, but it is divine. Paired with the moonbeam things I have, I feel... wow.

I wish they'd do a wild rose Corcovado! I'd risk waiting 6 weeks to get that bag.

poop. hokka is there a NYS consumer agency you could call?

it really doesn't seem right for them to just decide that they didn't want to honor credits. :(

Bri - I don't quite understand what is not working on your laura. can you do pics?

i am not sure, but that's a good question. anyone live in NY? i figure BBB is useless at this point - as pointed out, they have an F rating.

i did receive a reply back today (quickest ever!) basically saying, "sorry, we checked and nothing's valid. thanks for understanding!"

i'm not usually one to get really upset with CS folks, and i still feel mildly bad about continuing to write to them, but i'm really unsatisfied with the way this has been handled. but i think the current HH CS warrants it :nogood:

New York State has a department of consumer protection and there's also the state comptroller. I'm not sure which would be the right one. The state attorney general might be appropriate too. I've never actually filed complaints with anyone but the FCC, usually the threat of a complaint gets me as far as needed.

Here's the consumer protection complaint form https://www.dos.ny.gov/consumerprotection/form/complaintform.asp
