Have you/would you ever rent a designer bag?

I rented a BBS a long time ago. I wanted to try out the Gucci Pelham bag. I normally don't spend $1500 for a bag so I thought it was a good idea to test it out for a week. I tested it out and felt it was too big for me. I ended up getting the smaller one. Renting isn't for everyone, so in that case it worked out great for me. It was pricey to rent it but I'm glad I did or I would've been stuck with a $1500 bag.

For me, I wouldn't do it on an everyday basis but if I were thinking about getting another pricey bag, I would probably rent it first.

I actually do both. I rent quite regularly. For me it isn't the status of owning a bag, it's about being creative and finishing off an outfit.
Renting allows me to have access to a collection larger than my own, I don't have to worry that I may spend a huge amount of money and only love it for one season, and yet I can still mix things up and have the opportunity to play with most of the seasons key accessories. Every now and then when I fall head over heals, I just buy it.
I used to be really cynical about it, and scared of damaging them but after I tried it a few times, I've found it really useful and affordable. I borrow of a site called www.lovemeandleaveme.com, they often have special weekly offers which is great for my student income.
Personally, I like these new services. The more accessories I get to dress with, the better I say.

has anyone bought anything at the bag borrow or steal Outlet? I am thinking of getting a bag 'gently carried' bag there, however don't know of its actual condition. They did say it could be returned in 30 days but wanted to know anyone's experience when buying from them. Thanks

Nope. I'd rather save my money and buy the real thing. I'd much rather have a bag that's MINE, ALL MINE.
I don't have an issue with used shoes as I've found some cute and comfortable pairs, like my beloved Bally pumps or my Ferragamos.

EDIT: Oh my god! The Croc Birkin rental price!

I'd take the $1600 and buy myself a nice Louis Vuitton to keep!

I just joined as a member on a bag rental site in Australia. I'm only planning on joining for two months, which is the introductory time period required, because I wanted to test drive a few bags before I buy. I tested out a couple of bags which I wanted to buy and found that I didn't really like them after all. I also borrowed an LV speedy which I loved and am now going to buy two versions. So I think I saved myself from buying bags that would have costed me loads and ended up not enjoying.

What I found though, I can't rent bag on an ongoing basis as I get too paranoid of ruining them. But I've still got a month or so left so I'm just going to test drive a few other bags.

i guess it is a good idea for those who are not sure if they will like the bag or not.

for me, i am very picky about which bags i buy, so i only buy one if i know for sure i will like it. so far it's worked out for me, i haven't bought a bag yet that i've regretted.

Yeah, here in Sydney there are no places selling Balenciaga bags so I couldn't try the bag on. I thought I really wanted a First, but when I "borrowed" it, I found that it was too small for my needs. It would have costed me over $1000 so I'm glad tried it out first. But I'm not going to continue with membership as bag renting in the long term is not for me. I'd rather own the bags.
