I have adopted this rule of yours ever since you posted it on another thread. It’s so helpful to bat down “almost” purchases. It also keeps upgrading my collection. My only rule is any new bag either has to be better than something I already have or fill a gap. I've often sold a bag when a better example has come along. At one time I could buy 2 bags a season from Gucci, H or BV but for the last 4 years only 1 a year. I think the key word is patience.
Did you post a photo? And, red bags are show stoppers. Thanks everyone for your sound advice!
I definitely know that I prefer top handle bags with a detachable shoulder strap for my "going out" bag. During the day when I'm running errands, I have 2 totes that I use: Mansur Gavriel during the spring/summer and a von Holzhausen during the fall/winter. I have a large collection of smaller daybags and an even smaller collection of evening bags.
I guess I'll wait a while before I decide to purchase/pass on the red Elleme Baozi bag. I think what's attracting me to the bag is the amazing red color.
Yes! This. For those slike me) who want to use all our bags, at some point, you have to stop buying because you’ll run out of days in the year to wear everything. After awhile it seems kind of crazy to keep purchasing bags. Look at all those folks on Instagram, they rave about their new things and months later those bags they “loved “ are up for sale. Once it becomes a useless obsession, think it’s time to stop buying.
