Have you experienced Hermes bag jealousy...

I have friends that judge with their eyes- so I don’t tell them where I got them if they ask and sometimes even down play it and tell them I’ve had it for a while. Which is really idiotic and frustrating, but not worth the hassle.
Whenever people make you feel sort of “guilty” for enjoying luxury goods… like c’mon it’s my own money, I can do as I please! It’s not I’ve taken smth from your pocket to buy it 🤷‍♀️ Life’s short and is made to be lived and enjoyed all the blessings we have ✨
I also have a friend of my best friend- and every single time she sees me and I have an H bag, she asks if it’s fake and if I got it from X (fyi I don’t know X). Mind you, this friend of my best friend, drives a rolls Royce and lives near me, yet only purchased fake bags from X. Apparently the X person sells to these high net worth ladies that only buy fakes in my town (including the real housewives on tv/LOL). It’s nonetheless frustrating bc I would never ask someone, even when I know their stuff is fake, if it is fake. This woman is just jealous and petty, and annoying.
Fake friends with fake bags 😅
What I have learned at my age, and continue to learn via experiences, is that humans can be unwarrantedly petty and jealous. That if you thrive, even some of your friends, will not be happy for you (including family in this as well) because ultimately it’s the “why can she and why can’t I” mentality. What they don’t bother to look at or reflect upon, is that I can by sheer education and work ethic, not by luck. I did not inherit it, I studied for it and I worked for it. And, there is nothing more frustrating than for someone to tell me “how lucky I am”. Duh, wasn’t luck, it was hard work.

I buy the things that I enjoy, for me. Which is why I enjoy tPF due to the anonymity and collegiality of H fans.
Yeah somehow people just can never cheer on someone’s accomplishments, especially when it comes to money, like you have robbed them of smth 🤷‍♀️

🤣

I will never understand wealthy people wearing fakes.... I mean seriously... you're driving a rolls royce and you can't go pay some premium and get a real hermes bag? The Hermes bag is a better investment compared to the RR. So they can't really say they're being "smart". And if they leased the RR even worse.....

I absolutely agree. In all seriousness, I think the most dangerous human emotions are envy & jealousy.
I always try to be very careful to try not to evoke these in my colleagues/family/acquaintances. Everything DH & I have accomplished we earned for ourselves, so we don't feel we have to explain our spending to anyone. To me it's an economic allocation problem - I allocate $$$ to what's important to me - & you can allocate/spend your $$ on what's important to you. No judgment either way....

This!!!! Extreme wealth and then buy fake bags - that have no value. Without disclosing much more, the lady’s RR is not even their most luxurious vehicle - they have many more. The jewelry I have seen her wear is lovely and admirable as well. But to stay on topic here, there should be no jealousy from her (or others). Yet, it is there, always with the side comment albeit subtle at times. But always there. When I am with my friend and she joins, I will not shop with them. I wait for them to leave or I do it beforehand.

I was at a party about a year ago hosted by 3 couples, two of whom I knew quite well. The third couple whose home served as the setting for the celebration were new to me. This hostess was all about trying to steal the spotlight and trying to outshine every guest including the guest of honor. She examined me up and down upon meeting me, and paid particular attention to the H bag on my shoulder. When I later turned my back to chat with other guests, I glanced over my shoulder only to catch her flicking food at my bag.... true story!!

Some people are truly nasty. I bet she looks lovely on the outside.

Omg! Nasty nasty woman. Jealousy uncontrolled. I am so sorry this happened to you. Hopefully it was Togo leather. lol

Over the years, there have been people that I have come across who are jealous.
Jealous of your looks, your style, your taste, how you live, your car, your career
& jealously of an Hermes bag. Not knowing if it was a gift, passed down from a previous
generation or just came out of hard work for appreciating the beauty, craftmanship &
the brand overall.
Just learn to blow it all off because sadly jealousy is jealousy & when that green monster
is on one's shoulder no matter what they have they will always be jealous, sadly speaking

Honestly I’m not sure what it is about Hermes that draws out this insanity in people. There are area rugs that cost more than an Hermes bag and that’s to step on. Flights costs more than Hermes bags and that’s doesn’t even last a day.
It’s such a strange phenomenon. I was watching Simone Biles get flamed over her Hermes bag from Paris and then two weeks later people were congratulating her on her new Mercedes G Wagon. I was thinking to myself, “do you have any idea how many Hermes bags that is?!”

Seriously! Maybe they hate people playing the game? I have no idea why out of all the things you can waste your money on, this seems to be what really draws people’s ire.

And it actually has some value retention relatively speaking.
