Exactly my case! I bought an item for $950, was charged $101 custom fee and it sat in customs for 18 days! I almost forgot I ordered something it took so long! That was my first item ever stuck in customs. That actually is gonna be my last Japan purchase for a while.

Ouch! Yea my other bags finally came and I had to pay $43. :( I think I'm going to take a break too from buying any bags from out of the country lol.

I bought a preloved bag on eBay from Japan which has been shipped out last week. It arrived in the UK and it went straight to Customs. It took a couple of days for them to release it to the courier here and now I am waiting for the letter detailing the charges I need to pay. Once paid they will deliver the bag next working day, so hopefully Friday I will be with my new love :yes:

I will definitely think twice buying again from outside the EU. It may work out to be a lot more than expected. The only reason I bought this one was because I can't get hold of of a new one, due to it being discontinued.

I 'think' the tax charged will be 20% plus duty of about 2-3% and some admin fee. Yikes!!

I now have 4 things stuck in Chicago customs and one of them arrived March 16th, over a week ago! What are they doing - using my bags? They are all from elady. I have bought 2 things from her before, and they got here in about 5-6 days, just popping in and out of customs. I don't know why they are stuck now. Argh!

What has people's longest customs wait been?

I think I have 1 thing in hung up in customs in Chicago and it has been there for almost a week. The last update says processed through sort facilty ISC Chicago. It is coming from Canada though. I have purchased several items from Japan and it seems like they passed through quickly with no problem. I guess it might have something to due with the value? All the items I got from Japan where slgs and under $300. The item I have coming from Canada is over $500. I just keep checking the usps tracking page and hoping :whistle:

I'm waiting for my first purchace from elady and I can't see it getting through UK customs without a charge, I'm just not that lucky 😔
I'm hoping it won't cost more than I've saved buying from the website and not from ebay.

:roflmfao::roflmfao: This is so my situation! I've ordered tons of things from Japan over the years - never been in custom for more than a day and I got it the next day. My customs is in Chicago, too. But my last purchase of $950 was stuck in customs for.... 18 days total! I almost forgot I ordered something it took so damn long! And icing on the cake, I had to pay $101 custom fees. Luckily I had the exact change on me when my mail lady came over and I also think that is my last item I'm getting from Japan in a while. I'm content! (I think!):graucho::D

Hi, My first purchase was a preloved bag from Japan. I am in California and it took about 6 days to arrive on my front step. No issues with customs. It came via EMS, the value of bag was correct but the seller marked item as gift.

I had to pay duty tax, vat and handling fees :( but the saving was still enough that I'm happy I done it. Good luck and let us know :flowers:

I feel all the pain in this thread. I'm currently waiting on an item that's been chillin in Chicago customs for 10 days now! Agony! I told my husband also that they must be using it lol

If you guys are American and freaking out about customs, just be happy your rates are much better than Canada's.

I paid 11% in duty + 13% in sales tax + a $10 service fee when I picked up my item. An extra $97 on a $350 vintage Speedy.

Still super happy with my purchase, and I'm not surprised at the charge (based on other international orders I've made). But man, it still hurts.

My bag is in customs in Coventry and has been updated as being there 3 times in 3 minutes?!?! I'm not taking this as a good sign ��
I'll be expecting a grey post office/customs card any day ��

Mine said updated custom charges :/ I rang as soon as they said Sony could pay I couldn't wait for the letter hahaha let me know!
