I just received a Fendi yesterday - seller is brand_jfa - I didn't have to pay any customs duty. I did notice the seller put the value at only 1/3 of the selling price. Love the bag but their packaging was horrid! They didn't stuff the bag at all and put it in double envelope packaging after bubble wrapping. The bag came folded, but luckily did not lose shape. I've gotten Louis and Hermes from Japan from different sellers and haven't paid customs yet on anything -
I ordered a bag from brand_jfa too...it arrived in Chicago customs today. The packing of your bag worries me.....I have a bucket coming, can't think folding it or sending it flat would be a great idea!![]()
i've ordered from 2 different japanese sellers(no tax), a saumur 35 and cabas mezzo. both bags was wrapped in tissue, bubble wrapped and delivered flat in brown envelope. i have no issue with the packaging. i stuffed my bags after cleaning and looks fine.I ordered a bag from brand_jfa too...it arrived in Chicago customs today. I know - the other Japanese sellers were so much better at packing - I have to do a reveal - I look forward to seeing your bag - did you get a LV bucket?

I'm from Chicago too! Currently, I have 3 packages sent from Japan stuck in customs right now. I paid $207 for one, $350 for another and $217 for the last one. All from different sellers. The $350 handbag has been there for almost 2 weeks now. I've gotten many packages from Japan and never had a problem before. Do you think customs are just getting stricter now?
Yep, I got a bag from Brandoff for around $950 and paid about $100 in duties when the postman delivered it. Also, it got stuck in customer over two weeks. Not fun, but worth it in the end.
i've signed for all my purchases via ems and not tax so far.I'm waiting on a bag from japan via EMS. Will I have to sign for it? I'm worried about missing the mailman. And if I do get taxed, how/ who do I pay? Does the mailman accept credit cards? Thanks!!
I've bought many bags from Japan and never run into this issue but several people have asked me to let them know if my $799 holy grail steal of a bag I ordered from Brandoff incurs any duty. I'm hoping it doesn't, as that would take a little of the shine off getting such a killer deal, but I just don't know. From what I understand you get $200 duty free, but Brandoff marks his for full value and does not mark as gift (which is the right and honest thing to do, so kudos to him). I've read online customs info that basically says if you are an end consumer, and the product being imported is not a "commercial" item or being resold, and the value is less than $2000, there will be no duty, but I also hear it's kind of up to the discretion of the customs officer.
Have you been charged duty on LV purchased from overseas and shipped into the US? Not just eBay, but any other type of buying? What about specific sellers like Brandoff, eLady, tig-japan, etc? Brick and mortar stores? Please share your experience, the cost of your bag and the amount you paid in duty if so. If not, tell me and keep my hopes up! LOL. I've also heard it's supposed to be 9% but can be as high as 18%, which would not be pleasant! Anyway, whether you have or haven't paid duty, please share! So many people have questions on this in the LV forum and are leery to buy because of it, so I thought addressing it would be a good idea.I did a search for 'duty' in this forum and didn't see anything specific from recently.
