Just an update for anyone who is interested/cares.. my item is still in customs and this is the 10th business day. I'm beginning to think they are just using my bag for their personal use that's why it hasn't been sent!ullhair:

I'm not sure.. I called USPS as they are now the carrier and they said it's in custom, nothing more they can see or do right now. They just basically told me custom can hold onto my item for 30 days if they wanted. I asked them if they needed something from me that's why it hasn't been sent or has a delay and they said if they needed something from me, they would have sent paperwork already. I looked up customs not sure who to speak to. Ughhh such sadness in my life!
I'm sorry but that is crap! It would be time consuming on your part but I would call and or email customs until I aggravate them enough to give it up. Maybe not the most mature approach but I would be so angry. I imagine there are worse things being brought into the US then a preloved bag!!!! Good luck. I hope they release your item soon.
I know what you mean! There are far more "important" things they should be looking for instead of a preloved bag!
That's so dangerous you know!? I may try customs and have them transfer me somewhere to see if I can get any kind of answer. I wouldn't even mind paying a duty if there was one and it was prompt but it's been 10 business days and still no sign of what they want/need from me.

I've seen some other people get their items when it goes thru a different customs but of course we have no choice. So maybe something going on in the Chicago site?
i live in Chicago, so yes it still sitting at Ohare. i went through this with my card holder and USPS just told me there's nothing they can do for me. were you able to get a hold of a contact number for customs?
Finally got my bag! 18 total days since my order. Along with a $101 custom fee.

May I ask how much the bag was? I just received a bag from Brandoff in Japan last week, was only in customs less 30 minutes (came through Jamaica, NY) JFK in NYC before it was scanned out. I did not have to pay customs, bag was just under $1500 US.
Customs is a moving target for sure. I'm not sure value (as many of you are experiencing) is the only criteria used.
I have international business shipments and I still try to keep shipment values under $2k to minimize the scrutiny. I've had to pay duty on shipments as low as $500 USD and not on higher value shipments. I've paid when picking up (if for some reason I missed the delivery and didn't leave a signature release) the packages and I've received invoices (by mail) from international couriers (DHL. FedEx). Perhaps I was invoiced because the shipments are business related, but if I were hit with duty on an EMS shipment I would probably need to pay upon receipt.
Chicago is a port which scrutinizes shipments a little more than other ports. Regardless, duty/no duty assessed is still a "keep your fingers crossed dilemma."

This recent I just got was $950. Stuck in customs for 11 business days with a total of 18 days total. So making the total amount for the bag $1051. Just lovely! But I'm glad this is my last item for a while with the exception of the new Delightful coming out. That's a maybe so I'll have to see it in real life. I think it does vary as I've seen some people buy an item for under $200 and get hit a custom fee.
I've been lurking on this thread since I made my order through BrandOff. It arrived in exactly a week with no additional duty charges! This is crazy as I live in Canada and I've gotten taxed on almost every luxury item that has been sent to me so far. Just wanted to share my excitement!
