Have you ever paid duty when buying Louis Vuitton from Japan?

Nope still in customs as of today. It's a week now. I called customer service and they said customs can hold my item for up to 30 days if they want. :-(

That sucks! Mine is also still in customs. Wondering why it's taking so long. My items from Japan never took this long to stay in customs. Let's just hope we won't pay tax or are items are not lost. I've never lost an item there. Maybe there are just too many items to check there. Still thinking positive :)

hoping the best for you but when it get stuck in customs like that...it means they're prepping paperwork. at least that's the case for me. *finger cross*

Aww really?! Prepping paperwork like I'll owe duty?
I asked customer service at USPS and they said customs would have already sent something to me by now if they needed something and to basically just be patient for it. I guess 1 week down. Another 3 weeks to go.. if they need to hold my item that long. Idkkkkk!

yes, they usually attach the paperwork onto your package and the postman collect the fee from you before releasing the package. i brought a few things for elady and brandoff before. never had any issues with duty until a couple months ago. lol i think i been marked at the customs office. from experience, if it clears custom in a day or 2, that's when i didn't get hit with customs. i had a card holder sat in customs for 10+ days and i paid around $25ish. i brought a bag from brandoff for $1100 sat there for 3 days and was hit with $90ish.

Wow, that's lovely! (sarcasm)
I keep refreshing the screen every couple hours and it's still there. I guess I should be prepared to pay something. Do they accept just cash or any other forms of payment? (check, visa) My item was $950. How much do you think that'll be?
Do you think they keep track of how many times you buy internationally? I guess maybe I should buy from my husband's acct from now on!:roflmfao:

If it's canvas 9%. Leather can be up to 17%. Cash or check or you can go pick it up later and pay.

lol i feel you on that one!! i have another thing coming and it inbounded into customs today..

i don't know how they calculate their percentage. i live in Chicago and the sales tax is 9.25%. for the card holder they charge me the full sales tax and for the purse they charge me like 8%. so go by your state tax is my best bet. they take cash but i didn't have any on me so i paid with a check. i don't think they take cc in person, unless you go to the post office but i assume u want your bag right then and there.

There's a list on the customs site. They calculate by material. 9% for canvas and 12% for leather and 17% for exotics.

Well anyways.. I'm very happy for yours! Glad you got your HG. Mine wasn't necessarily a HG but something that would be really useful to my collection and I've been missing out on. I guess I'll just have to wait and wait and wait.. (which I suck at doing!)
