I see nothing wrong with strapping anything in with a seat belt. I have even done so with various things I may be taking places. It has nothing to do with what the item may cost, but more about not having to worry if you have to slam your brakes because a deer jumps in front of you and you don't want stuff flying around the car.
Got it. Some like to strap their bags in and some don't. My feeling is that seat belts don't always secure things the way we hope they will but if it makes you feel better to do so and has proved positive in the past then by all means do so!

Do what works for you.

It's good to see others dealing with "critters" too  Deer scare me. I saw an SUV hit a deer once and was stunned at how violent it was.

I wish carmakers would include some type of clip, like a carabiner style, in the passenger seat area so it would be easy to secure a bag's handles to keep it from flying all over without the hassle of wrestling with the seat belt.

What I do is to loop one of the bag straps around the passenger seat (over the headrest). This works for me as I usually have a cross body with a long strap!

Other things I have done in the past is to attach the bag handle to the seatbelt or the passenger seat using a bag clip (like the clipa clips I carry around in case I need to hang my bag somewhere).

Never tried buckling my bag in though, or rather never thought of doing that!

There's a device I saw posted on here some months ago that a tpf'er used to store her bag while driving. It was a hook of some sort, I think. It attached onto the metal underneath the headrest if the passenger seat. I can't remember what exactly it was though.
Deer are beautiful, but scare me as well. We have many around here, so I have to be careful.

I do have to say that this makes me laugh! There will never be a time where I will feel the need to "buckle in" my handbag.....................NEVER!

It's a bag, not a child!

Please know I'm not making a judgement, just my own opinion. If I've spent that much on a handbag that I have to worry about it in a car then I think my priorities are out of whack.

Really sounded like judgment to me. Telling someone who wants to keep their bags nice that their priorities are out of whack is being judgey.
You have no clue about anyone's life or their circumstances.
I take care of my possessions. I like that they remain in nice condition. If that means my priorities are out of whack, well then...I'm guilty.

This is very true, many cautions about loose objects flying in cars, it may seem harmless until it's moving at a great rate and then becomes something that can cause significant harm.

My dh has hit 3 over the years, the last resulted in a meeting with a hydro pole.. fortunately he's never been seriously hurt, just a tradeoff for where we live and the hours he works.

I'm too fickle to know that I'll love a bag for the rest of my life. :p

Me too! I did purchase a speedy 30 in 2007 and back then thought of it as a big purchase as far as purses go. I think it was $620 before tax at the time. I carried it for a year straight and have since used it off and on for years. The thing I learned from it though is 1. A shoulder strap is a necessity. 2. Inner slip pockets are also a necessity. Though I still like speedy I would have sold it for a more functional LV however what I would get for it, wouldn't cover even half of the majority of the bags. The prices keep going up too.
With Coach I do like that the bags are always functional and that after I tire of them I can sell them to fund new ones.
I do have a couple of Coach pieces I won't sell. I have a classic city bag my husband got me years ago and it still looks like a new bag when I use it.

I hit a small deer about 5 years ago...totaled my car. I was only going about 45. The worst accident of my life. And yes, my Coach ended up in the passenger floor board ruined from the impact.

+1000. Same reasons I just sold my Speedy! Can't live without a shoulder strap or inside pockets!

Glad to hear he wasn't seriously injured.

I saw this commercial the other day, one of those as seen on tv products. Not sure it would work on all cars.
https://www.buypursepouch.com/

That looks handy! I'm not sure it would work on my car, it has tall seats but not headrests. I like that the ad mentioned laptops. That's my big fear when I have that in a tote. It does *not* need to be traveling about inside the car / crashing on the floor.

Ugh! Glad you lived to tell the tale. I was lucky I slowed to a crawl when I saw the deer prancing down the median, but the SUV in front of me sped on and the deer darted into his lane. I've seen deer bodies at the side of a road post-accident, but I've never seen one just disintegrate before. :wtf:

I thought of this thread while strapping my bag into the shopping cart at the store today. Anyone else do that? Obviously it's not to keep it from falling out, but it is to keep it from being snatched if I get distracted picking things out.

The only brand I think I can say I've given up on is Betsey Johnson. I love the cute designs, but I bought one of her bags (a few years ago, and it was a true leather bag) and the first time I carried it a handle fell off because the screw had come loose. I got basically a "too bad" response and that was enough to make me not want to buy again. I've seen them in Macy's recently but they're not leather and for the price I could get a nice leather Coach bag and responsive customer service as well.

I feel more comfortable buying Coach because of the customer service and return policy. If you buy something at Michael Kors on sale, it isn't returnable or exchangeable.

I can buy Coach at my Macy's, the outlet, or online, knowing that I can return it locally. Most other brands don't have a store near me so the only time I can see them is on vacation, and then I have to be absolutely sure since, even if they are returnable, it would be final sale for me.

That's a shame, the last deer my dh hit wrote his car off too. They can be potentially fatal too, my FIL had a friend killed from one coming through the windshield.
