have the "contemporary" mid-level bags lost their following?

I'm happy to hear your Sea Mist hasn't changed. I just got a Coach Sea Green (very pale mint) and Chalk and realized I have no idea how to care for light colored bags!

I recommend using Apple Guard Rain and Stain spray for the lighter color bags if they hang lower and will be prone to color transfer. The spray helps from any transfer to be permanent and it comes off with a baby wipe.

Thank you! I will wear the Chalk one on my shoulder with a long crossbody strap so it hangs down low, but the Sea Green is a tote I'll wear over the shoulder so it's up high. I wear a lot of dark/deep colors and have never had such light bags before. I'm saving them for spring and looking forward to using them! Though I think I'll try the chalk out this winter...winter white. I haven't treated them with anything. I was going to get the Coach moisturizer but read it's bad for the leather because it contains silicone. So thank you for your advice! It's a huge help!

You're welcome! I have the Rogue satchel in chalk, and I knew being a satchel, and my love of wearing denim would be a disaster. So I proactively sprayed that bag about 3 times before I used it. I also use Apple's moisturizer for my bags when they start to look a little lack luster, and when they really need some TLC, I use Blackrocks leather moisturizer on them.

I've been wanting to break out my Rogue in chalk for winter white too. Maybe I'll do that this week....

It is interesting to read all the MK hate on TPF because that is the brand that drew me into designer purses in 2009 and led me to the forum. I own the less popular designs I guess as I don't see reveals of the Bowery, Louisa, or Bristol but they have wonderful leather, aren't covered in logos, and have great practical pockets inside and out. I find MK to be one of the most user friendly designers out there and available for good prices. Coach 1941 is more luxurious, but much pricier and usually less organization. I buy bags I like from multiple contemporary designers. I do feel it will take a lot to interest me in buying in the next year as I have plenty to meet my needs and wants after collecting for 8+ yrs.
I found an older MK and i love it. No logos, really great leather and outside pockets. I think it is from the Ranger Collection. I use it all the time. I wonder how old it is?

Yes love for some reason that really light minty color just doesn’t work for bags. My Maldives Bal, the Rm Cupid in Mint, and the MAM in electric blue ALL FADED. I haven’t had any fading issues at all with Coach. But those light light blues make me scared now because my bags have turned white!

old MK has great leather! Omg they even had a bubbly lamb skin like Alexander Wang! Old MK is amazing if you can find it in NWT or like new! Their Brooklyn line is also amazing the straps are gorgeous

As a person who sells bags on eBay, I can tell you the only bag that sells right now is Dooney. Followed by Brahmin. They are usually gone before I am done with my listings for the day.
Everything else sits for a long time and usually sells for the minimum I have set eventually.
No brand Is free of quality issues, even the old standbys. Vintage is the way many have chosen to go because of quality issues.
The economy is good in many places and most are willing to wait for a good bag to go on sale at a boutique or major department store since sales are so frequent.
I had that experience with Dooney, too - they sold very quickly on ebay, most for at least the amount I paid for them, many for more.

Though I think some of their quality has gone down, too? For example, I bought a small calf leather satchel a year or so ago, and the quality was fine. But looking at reviews of what they are selling now for the small calf leather satchel they have made a number of design changes that cheapen their costs but reduce the quality of the bag.

In general, I think I got the handbag bug as companies are in decline in terms of quality, so I was able to get stuff at reduced price that was still very good quality, though not as great as they might have been in their heyday. But still better than the issues I am hearing about now. That knowledge/prediction is a big reason why I let myself buy the bags right then and there rather than "wait" and get a reduced quality bag later, possibly at the same or even higher price.

I like the vintage idea, too. I did that with some of brands I like, ones that aren't even high end but used to be solid high quality - and the quality and design is so much better on those older bags, they are so much more durable, and they don't look cheap the way the ones that are made today do.

I did see one at the Outlet, but I was referring to the boutique.
The young lady was very pleasant, but just didn’t seem very knowledgeable. And probably very new, as 3 customers in the store had her confused as to who to help first.
I will give it another shot, however.
Thanks for the tip!
Murphy! I have the number of an SA that can help you order the Rogue Satchel from
The warehouse in Jacksonville! The regular ones were on sale for half off and I believe they still have Chalk and oxblood. The ones with the snake handles are available in camel and I think the grey sold out. The black is sold out as well. But darling message me if you want the number of my Coach SA so you can get the Rogue Satchel (the regular chalk and oxblood were half off!)

Coach is great with color love I’ve never had any fading whatsoever on any Coach bag even if it’s vintage! Coach really proved themselves to be the best along with Dooney. And Coach 1941 is money much better spent than LV. When I got the Rogue Satchel 36 it was 995, the LV SPEEDY 35 was 990 and I chose the 1941 Rogue Satchel 36 because it’s incredible. It’s made out of gorgeous leather and full suede interiors. So much more luxe and I know I would have kicked myself everyday if I got the speedy 35 instead because the Rogue Satchel
Is out of production

This thread has been fascinating because Coach is the most I've ever spent on a bag, and I still only get them on sale or from the Outlet. I used to just choose one affordable black leather bag that I liked at a time. I never really cared about name was getting one as a gift. I didn't like it...so I went to see what else they had, and the rest is history! Now I'm on a Coach kick because I want the bags to last a while, be leather, .

Yes love Coach is the future and the past! Their vintage bags are wonderful and their new bags are better than any other brand IMO. The only time Coach had a bad run was during their canvas CC stage and their poppy bags. Thank God Stuart Vevers took over and his first release was the almighty Borough bag!!! Y’all know that bag is legendary! Thank God for Stuart saving Coach and creating Coach 1941! ♥️♥️♥️

yassssss Queen!!! Wear your chalk !!! The days of “only wear these colors during these seasons” have long past! I see many people wearing white and pastels and oxblood and brown suede ALL YEAR ROUND! If it’s a gorgeous bag then don’t think twice about “what season” it is, just wear it! A beautiful bag deserves year round love!!! ♥️♥️♥️
