Has anyone seen the MK bags that look like speedys?

I don't believe that LV has a copyright on the doctor bag/speedy shape. I say this only because several handbag designers have doctor bag shaped purses. There are only so many ways you can shape a top handle bag. Eventually they will look similar. Dooney & Bourke has "speedy-shaped" bags in an array of really pretty colors. Borrowing ideas is quite common in the fashion world. Goyard was personalizing bags with stripes and initials before LV.

Having said all that, I still prefer LV and plan to get my third speedy pretty soon. :p
Fendi also came out with a "speedy" looking bag - think it had a padlock too. I saw this bag during the the LV shortage of 2010?? I was in Vegas and came very close to buying the Fendi... then I decided to wait for restock and purchased the LV speedy.

As for MK, I do like some of his bags. I have a tote that is my go to favorite for my laptop, notebooks, etc..

Many brands make their own "speedy" version and I don't see nothing bad in it since it's a classic shape, for example the Gucci Boston bag is similar in shape but has its own style. Instead I find those from MK a dull copy of a genuine Speedy.

Most of MK's bags seem to be a knock off of a higher end designer. This bag has been around for a while they have another that's like the NF. The hamilton line is a knock off of hermes, they also have a chole marcie knock off, a prada tote knock off, and I'm sure their are others I can't think of. They have also used coated canvas for a while too. I've checked them out and some of them are made better than others I do like the NF knock off they are made of a saffiano leather I just haven't found the right color for it yet.

Bought it & love it :)
Btw the coloring is diff from azur. The MK logo is a bunch of little beige/light brown dots.
For those who dont want to purchase a canvas speedy b/c they're so common, this bag is a great alternative.

I have the LV azur bag and it looks similar, but there are differneces. The handles on the MK bag are not rolled like the LV Speedy. Also, the MK bag has studded feet (which I kind of like), but the LV does not. Either way, they are both nice bags. I prefer LVs, but MK bags are definitely more affordable.

The barrel shape is a common purse shape, commonly known as a doctor's satchel or duffel bag. I doubt LV has the copyright on a barrel shape. I always referred to these bags as a duffel bag, having owned them in versions by Coach, Calvin Klein, and now LV.

Designers always "copy" each other.
I'm personally not a fan of MK, but they do make really nice quality bags.
Whatever floats your boat right?

I'm sure LV wasn't the first to come out with the "doctors" bag

If you can get the same/better quality for a lower price, then why not? I mean, it's not like they're not both made in China right? Having LV on the side of my bag instead of MK (or Rioni/etc) isn't worth the difference in price, but that's just my opinion.
From what I've read, MK came out with the *neverful* style before LV so you have to wonder who copied who. :shrugs:

People are either very silly or have never bought/researched/seen any other brand. Ever. The Speedy shape is not exclusive to Louis Vuitton, not remotely. Nor are people who carry Michael Kors bags that happen to be a similar shape carrying them because they're LV 'wannabes'.

Yes. Someone else stupidly said that MK had stolen LV's design for the Totally too - despite the MK bag being available before the Totally had been introduced by LV. Funny, that.

Love this! Louis Vuitton bags aren't for everybody. I personally know a few very wealthy women who carry MK bags exclusively. I know they can afford LV, but they choose not to buy LV. I definitely wouldn't call them LV "wannabes". Same as clothing designers, if Old Navy or Target (as examples) didn't have designs inspired by high end designers, we all would have to shell out a lot of money for a Vera Wang dress/top. Hasn't anyone seen the "Splurge/Steal" section in fashion magazines?

Thank you.

I was about to write a similar response to this thread until I read your nicely phrased words. I think it makes LV fans sound quite arrogant to turn their noses up and insist that fans of "lower tier designers" are posers, or that more affordable brands are low-quality knockoffs of LV.
