Has anyone debated lately about selling off their whole LV collection?

TPF has a place to sell/buy/trade items if you meet criteria. You need to be a regular , frequent active contributor, (not just lurking here) in order to get approval. Here's a link from the O.G. forum, but if non-O.G members can't access it, it would be best to inquire as to the specifics with a moderator.

So if I click on this and it doesn't open, I should just assume I don't meet the criteria, right? I don't want to bother the moderators. If I don't meet the criteria, I don't meet the criteria.

Thanks for any clarification.

If the link doesn't open, I guess it only means you are not an "O.G.", (since this thread was originally in the OG subforum). The OG designation (if i'm not mistaken) means you have been a member for more than 10 years. I am not sure if being an O.G. is a requirement for access to the MP. There are many with the O.G. designation that just lurk or don't post nor contribute so that doesn't help. My suggestion would be to message Megs or Vlad to answer your Q's. If you don't ask, you'll never know, right ?? On occasion they ask for recommendations for members in the Marketplace but you need to be really active for others to recommend you. Good Luck !

I was really furious with LV right after I returned from my birthday vacation. I received a call from the repair manager at my local store telling me that the artisans at their repair department felt that the issue I highlighted for my repair request met LV's quality standard therefore no repair will be done.

What's the issue that I sent in for a repair? Well, the edges that were glued down to the inside of the canvas prior to sewing lifted everywhere. The item was bought new in December from LV's website and I've only used it thrice and it's stored properly. Even the repair manager said she's never seen anything like that and it's definitely an issue when I brought my item into the store.

Back to the phone call, I said I can't be gluing the edges back myself so is it possible for me to pay to have their repair department fix it considering my CA and the repair manager waived the repair fee the first time around (they offered, I didn't ask for it to be waived). She still said no and I asked for my item to be shipped back to me.

I am very appalled by this incident along with ongoing poor QC and multiple price increases throughout the year. For the price that they are charging, I feel that the quality and customer service should have been better. It makes me sad thinking about how entry level designer brands stand by their products better than LV despite charging a very small fraction of LV prices.

Right now, I can still feel the virtual punch in my gut typing this post out. After I received my item back, I immediately (no joke, I really mean immediately) looked through all my LV canvas stuff and started selling them to 2 online companies and 1 local company whose a client at my work. I sold all my canvas items except for the DE MP, Mono card holder and a Vivienne bag charm from last year's holiday. The few other items that I kept are my Empreinte items and I just added the Scarlet Empreinte TP 26 to my downsized collection. I may still buy something from LV occasionally but I'm moving on to a different brand. I work in the service industry and I don't believe customers are always right. However, I also don't feel that I should be spending my money on a company that so blatantly shrugs off quality issue and slapping me with "it meets LV quality standard" when it was clearly a quality issue.

Sounds like LV's "quality standard" has greatly diminished. Sad. I only buy vintage cos they're cheaper and the quality is so much better.

Their "quality standard" is definitely not what I'd expect from an upscale brand. If an item purchased new and the glued edges weren't lifting, I wonder how they can tell me that the current condition with lifted edges met "LV quality standard" :hrmm:

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying vintage LV  I heard even the canvas is thicker than what's being used nowadays.

Somehow I don't think lifted edges is something that happens with normal wear and tear.

The canvas is much thicker in vintage bags than it is now.

I’ll be doing the same. Cleaning the closet and Poshmark.

How long has it been since you felt this way? That might be an indication if you’re really really over it. I’ve been feeling the same way as you lately and have been turned off by LV in so many ways. My last purchased bag was an escale nf. I will not be selling my bags.to me it’s not worth the hassle and i will lose quite a bit of money. I’ve decided to be happy and use what I have (which is quite a lot), no need to excessively baby them, just use them practically to serve my convenience. But having said that, I wont be purchasing any more new LV bags. I hope you find peace in whatever decision you make. :drinks:
For as much as they don’t lose value it sure is impossible to make a reasonable amount selling them! There are not a lot of risk free ways that don’t take a huge portion!

I totally get the Marie Kondo effect but take it from an older mom, keep the classics and don’t lock the door shut. I didn’t think I would ever be buying LV again. I did the usual coach->LV->Chanel->Hermès->Gucci, YSL, MCM,->madewell/jcrew and Nordstrom brands,—>back at LV again.
I did Coach to LV so far . I’m am just about at purse peace!

LV was my first luxury brand and will always have a place in my heart. I sold several LV pieces I was not in love anymore such as alma, neverful, pochette Métis among others. I still have a pretty good collection that I love very much —— mini spring, twist, crosette, multi pochette , speedy, clapton backpack. I m pretty happy with my current LV collection
