Has anyone debated lately about selling off their whole LV collection?

Ugh, I have been through this debate in my head for awhile now. I haven't even carried an LV bag in 2 months. Not sure if it is a phase, or what. I keep thinking Ill get back into one but then I just don't. I have 5 bags now and all are just sitting on the shelf.
Which brands do you wear instead? Just curious :)

Blind-ish post: I would keep, and put them away for safekeeping.

I was totally uninterested in LV Monogram Canvas for a really, really long time (like onwards from 2003/2004ish) until I suddenly started liking it again in the last few years. If I did it over again, I would've bought my first LV (a Speedy 25) in Mono Canvas over DE. But live and learn.

I could see with COVID continuing and depending how well or quickly the economy bounces back, switching to more understated bags for a years, but this ish is cyclical. I'm sure by 2027 I'll be into Monograms again.

I did in fact sell off my entire collection of about 15 bags. None of them worked for me for various reasons. The speedy B's probably would but the extra amount of money they're asking for two rings and a basic strap is so off-putting that I wouldn't be able to justify it.
There are 2 or 3 that I kind of regret letting go, but merely as collectibles. I doubt I would carry them any more now than when I set them free.
I carry Prada nylon bags now almost exclusively-----esp the gaufres.

Maybe this thread is ok here or the general section?

As of late, I have debated selling off my LV pieces. I’ve been sort of turned off to the brand lately. As much as I like looking at them, they don’t feel like “my style”. What if I regret it? The price only keeps going up... but maybe am over LV?

Anyone else feel this way?
Not looking to bash, just thoughts...
I felt the same last year. I didn’t have a big collection. Only had 4 LV bags at that time. I was re-building my bag collection and had planned at least another 3 bag purchases with my SA (I felt sorry that I didn’t make it happen). Suddenly I lost interest in LV but I knew why I felt that way. Slowly but sure I found other brand(s) suits my style more. I bought many from other brands and I almost never reach for my LV bags anymore though I still like the ones I have. I’m also trying to be moderate (hard to be a minimalist bag person, lol) and keep only the bags I love. So I only keep 2 of my LV bags because they’re iconic and I do love them though I don’t use them much now because I’m bored with them at the moment (Speedy B DE 25 and Pochette Metis in Monogram) and sold the other 2 (Speedy Emp 25 and Speedy B DE 30). You can see I’m stuck with finding another style to love

PS. I’m considering letting go of the Pochette Metis. I just can’t do it yet I’m afraid I will regret it but deep down I know 1 LV is enough for me and it has to be the speedy

I always sell bags I dont have any use for anymore. I do not get too attached to them, if they no longer are serving a purpose for me or I am simply bored of it then out it goes. Collecting bags is a hobby for me and I only have so much space in my purse closet.

Its been awhile though since I have sold anything, I am pretty happy with my collection at the moment. I do have an LV though black leather that I am considering letting go. I really liked it at first but I find it rather heavy and its hand held. I find myself not using it much at all.

If they no longer work for you then I would go for it.

I just wanted to add only one bag I have sold I did regret and did re end up buying again and it was the Noir MC Trouville.I just love that bag so much. Its forever going to be a member of my collection.

Wow... I was kinda sad to read your thread header !! I can't imagine losing my LVoe for a brand I've come to know and follow for decades....but this is MY own opinion. I 'm wondering what has happened to make you feel so disheartened that you really would consider selling off your Vuittons. How long have you been collecting ? Just a few years ? Perhaps it's because I've owned these items for so long, that I've weathered all the different LV fashion trends, bad seasons, strange designs, boring years, diminishing quality, frequent price increases, horrible designers that sometimes if I start feeling "brand fatigue", it usually passes with a new crop of SLGs, bags, etc . where something gets my attention to fall back in LVoe again with LV. You can always take a break and come back to it. But take care as I've had seller's regret in some L.E. pieces that currently retail for $4 K now, when I bought them for under $1K. I guess it's (LV) in my blood. I don't own a single Chanel or Hermes item (aside from perfume) and it's due to my LV-colored glasses...:coolio:. They are like my "children"...carefully cared for, curated and  LVoed  !!

Are you sure that this isn't Covid related? I haven't bothered with any of my bags really in over a year. I still love my NF but I used to rotate through my bags regularly and I haven't really since lockdown started. What for? I'm working from home and don't really go anywhere.

I feel this way about the 20 or so bags in my closet that haven't seen the light of day for over a year. I've decided that I won't make any decisions about pruning my collection until life goes back to normal. I just don't know how I'll feel. I may take great pleasure in planning what bag to carry again, putting together an outfit for the office.

If it's only been a few months and you're in an area that still has a lot of restrictions and your life doesn't look like it used to, you may want to be sure that your lost pleasure in your bags isn't due to other factors. It would be a shame to sell items at a loss only to really miss them later and want to replace them at a much higher price point. :)

No but I do sell bags here and there that don’t work for me anymore. I go through phases when there are collections I don’t like. Maybe take a break for awhile and come back. I’ve tried other brands and always seem to reach for my LV. I have found that I do not like certain lines like empreinte and Epi. I have learned to buy what I like and not what’s now and popular. Those bags seem to sit in the closet. I do find it frustrating that certain items are never in stock and my store never seems to get the bags I like in...

I don’t feel like it’s Covid related. I was able to use my bags and such still when I ran out. Good question though.

Let’s see. I’ve been loving latter the brand since multicolored came out. Seeing all the canvas pieces become impossible to find has me disheartened. Along with the insane price increases. I’ve been active with owning an LV for 10 years at least. Some of my pieces are maybe 5 years older now. I remember getting my first LV pre loved and it was 750 and freaking out about the cost. Lol. I sold her a long tone ago. Was not for me. I just wonder if maybe LV isn’t me. No matter how much I love looking at it it doesn’t feel right when I use it.
