But at least the seller isn't claiming it to actually be an Hermes item, this is at least made clear when reading the text.
There are many resellers who appear to have an excellent relationship with a SA at Hermes and they will buy whatever they are offered. They then re-sell them at a greatly inflated price. I think Hermes does know about this and has tried to limit the number of bags a single customer can buy in a year, but the resellers seem to know how to get around this. Here's a listing that has all the red flags...authenticity card and "gift" status. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

(Is anyone else disturbed by the sheer number of Birkins available for resale? Some were brand new. I counted seven Himalayan croc bags alone. Some from "reputable" sources. How is that even possible? I would venture that 90% of them are fake,)
and it's got 34 bids so farSometimes there are no words.

The Himalayan bag was very hot 3-4 years ago. Not so much now. I have no doubt that big collectors (who are constantly editing and adding to their enormous collections) may have put some of these up for sale.
With Hermes, everything is a mystery...

Maybe you are right. I just don't understand it yet. Perhaps when I have multiple bags, I won't be quite so attached.
Hermes is certainly a mystery. Some people wait years for a bag, while others buy and sell multiples regularly. Why they sell to people, who are obviously resellers, while making sincerely interested customers ride an emotional roller coaster, I will never know. If any other business operated that way, they would be out of business.
