I recently purchased this Coach City Bag in butter soft glove tanned leather...but I have some doubts if this bag is authentic.I never saw the creed numbers looking like this.I am just starting collecting Classic Coach bags and can you, please , explain to me what do they mean!:)

It's genuine and was made in China in 2007 for the outlets.

Remember, there's a special thread under Coach Shopping just for authentications.

Wow, thank you for your post. I had no idea there were distinctions. I figured the Factory Outlet was just the regular boutique bags, but on sale. You have opened my eyes. I go to the Factory Outlets pretty regularly and have seen people go insane in the Coach store, especially during the holidays. I'm pretty sure 90% of those people also have no clue about MFF. People walk away with bags and bags of Coach. Now, everyone owns one.

Rather than go through every Creed tag, is there a way to tell where the deletes are located in the store? Also, is there a way to tell in the FOS?

Thanks again.

The SAs will direct you to the deletes. It is usually along a wall near the back of the store. On FOS, you have to know your products to know whether they are deletes or MFF. You can read the Factory Online Sale discussion thread in the Shopping section of the forum to learn more and ask there about specific items.

What an informative thread! I had no idea there were all of these small differences. I am brand new to Coach. My mother-in-law saw her sister's bag, decided she wanted one, so we stopped by our local factory store the other day, and lucked out by walking into the sale we had no idea was happening.

We each ended up with two new handbags, and I have been nothing but impressed with the one I've been using, a Kristin Spectator Leather Hobo. The leather is so soft and buttery, and the way the bag hangs, the quality of the construction - I keep reading here how the MFF bags are not the same quality as the boutique, and I just have to say I have a hard time imagining that. Since I don't live near a boutique, I suppose I may never know the difference.

Thanks, glad it was helpful. Often the delete bags are gathered together in a section of the store and marked with a discount, like 50% off. But that's not a guarantee that all the bags in that area are deletes, they may mix some MFF bags in the same location. Plus you may find some FP deletes in clearance and there are often FP wallets and accessories in various locations around the store.

After awhile you get an instinct for the FP items but you still have to check. The MFF accessories that don't have a creed are marked with a small dot on the "Made in ...." tag.

On the factory online sale, if I find a bag I am interested in and I am not sure if it is MFF or FP delete, I usually just make a note of the style number and then search ebay and bonanza looking for a listing for the same item - that shows a pic of the creed patch. It's a pain, but it is the only way I have been able to be sure.

Thanks, some of the MFF bags are really excellent quality and you can't tell the difference from the boutique bags. Both some are lighter weight and not as detailed or as finely made. But they are all Coach bags and nicely made and styled. You just need to find a bag that you like and enjoy it!

tPF newbie here. I have not seen this topic duscussed: Butter soft feel of Coach leather
Posting here as I am not allowed to start discussion threads yet.

First, thank you to all the authenticators who contribute their time and expertise. I am a new aficianado of vintage Coach bags. Second, I have been self-authenticating (I know, and I will correct by posting in Authenticate thread when tPF allows it) after educating myself about creeds on this site and the Salearea guides.

My handful of near vintage Coach leather bags have that wonderful thick, pliable Coach leather feel. Even a 2010 bag has a nice feel to it, with slightly thinner learther.

However, my recent purchase (newer seller, late at night, after fruitless searches -shoulda known better) was a pre-1994 Court bag (listed as brown, looks to be Tabac color). I received it last week and the leather feels thin and is very stiff. It does not have the same feel. Did different colors have different leathers or feel, or is this a fake? Apologies if this is not the right place to post.

You can post pictures in the Authenticate thread. It would help to see the creed and other details so we tell if it is authentic. I have several pre-1994 US bags and the leather is usually thick. I don't notice a difference between colors. The stiffness could be caused by products used on it, or even by lack of products. It is possible that it feels thin and stiff because the leather is really dry.

It would really help to see pics as Whateve has said. After you post several comments on TPF you will be allow to post pics in the authentication thread.

Where does one go here to post a few photos of a coach handbag that is said to be vintage and has no creed. Would like to find out if it is real. This is the link photos can be seen at..
