Guide For Coach Product Grades and Markings

I am new to the forums and wanted to thank you for the wonderful information for Coach handbags. I now understand what the product codes mean - I think.

I just acquired a vintage Coach bag. It is labeled C4E-4408 and it is made in Italy. If I understand the labeling correctly, it was made in March of 1994 so part of the 1993/1994 collection. I know it is a Madison bag but not sure which one. The 4409 is the Arcadia but no idea what the 4408 is called. I've done a lot of searches but cannot come up with any information about the 4408 except that it is very rare.

If anyone has any information I would be most appreciative. I am very interested in the older Coach bags although I love the new ones too. I attached a couple of photos so you can see what it looks like. :D

Your style 4408 is a genuine Madison Savoy Satchel. Here's Coach's catalog description from their Holiday 1993 catalog:

Good Afternoon. I will remember to go to the ID thread in the future. Thank you so much for the information tough. It is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for the helpful information. Now I know what to look for when shopping for a Coach bag.

Is it safe to say that MFF Coach bags (particularly the leather ones) are still good bags comparing to others within the same price category ($100-150 after discount)? Or are we better off finding something else?

They still are well-made bags for the most part. Lately, they have been making MFF bags that are nearly identical to the FP versions.

Hi I have read this whole thread through and appreciate the great information. My question is in regards to shoes. Is there a MFF line for Coach shoes? If yes, how can I determine which shoes are FP and which are MFF?

I had my eye on some shoes on FOS, and it would be my first Coach shoe purchase, so was wondering. TIA.

There are shoes I've only seen at factory stores so I assume they were made for factory. I don't see any difference on the labeling inside the shoes or the style numbering. As far as I can tell, only the boxes are different. When you see things on FOS, the only way you can tell what is MFF and what is a FP delete is if you remember seeing the item on Coach.com or at a full price store in the past. Unlike purses, Coach puts shoes on sale in their FP stores and on Coach.com. The same shoes may be on Coach.com on sale and on FOS at the same time.

Thanks for the time spent sharing your knowledge. This has been very helpful for me already.

Thanks. it's really informative.

Thanks for the great information

Glad that it was helpful, thank you.

I have a few pair of coach shoes and I am not aware of any MFF line of shoes. I don't think that they make MFF shoes but perhaps someone else has more information.
