Guide For Coach Product Grades and Markings

I am so mad after reading this information. I purchased a bag from the outlet that the sales woman told me was from the retail store, and that it was better quality. However, I just checked and it has the F in front of the serial number, meaning it was made for the factory! I feel duped.

In the future, if I order from the online outlet, how can I tell if the bag was a retail bag, since it won't show the serial number in the pictures?
It might not be MFF.

If the F is in front of the serial number (as you stated) on the left hand (prefix) side, the F is for the month (June).

If the F is in front of the style number (suffix/second half of serial number), it's a MFF bag.

Please post a picture of the creed.

It's called an Edie Shoulder Bag 31 with Prarie Rivets

I usually search for "reserve" on the outlet website and that brings up a lot of retail bags - but it is not a foolproof method.

Once you decide that you like a bag you can look for one on ebay and other online auction and sales sites. The pictures on those sites often include the creed so you can see whether there is an F in front of the style number.

You are correct. The bag is MFF.

Yes, 81 is also a Vietnam plant code. Remember, the codes in the serial numbers indicate individual plants in those countries, not the countries themselves.

I purchased a Coach Briefcase ant an estate sale with the serial number No. 1276-305 Made In The United States$_57.jpg . Before giving it to my son can someone verify if this is authentic?

I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

Welcome!

I know it's a confusing (and HUGE) site so it's hard to find the correct place to post.

For authenticity questions, read the first post on the following thread for the necessary format and info we need then post a reply on that thread:

Hello, am new here, anyone has a complete list of factory code for coach bag? Like 80 for vietnam etc. thanks

Not that I know of. And factory codes can change often or be reassigned so you can't always depend on them to match some list you might find on the internet. Coach probably still uses some codes as "temps" or "floaters" and assigns them to temporary locations that they might just be using or renting for a short time. Some older plant codes could be used by as many as 3 different locations in a one-year period. Also they're pretty useless in figuring out whether a Coach is authentic or not.

There is some information such as codes that Coach never makes public, and we don't either. Among other problems that kind of information can cause, it can be, and has been, used by counterfeit manufacturers to make their fakes seem more accurate. If you want to make a list I suggest that you do what we do - study genuine bags and start keeping a record of the plant codes.

Sorry if this isn't the right thread, if the Creed shows K3H-9525, and it is an authentic Coach Stewardess Bag, what does K3H pertain to? Is K=October? Is 3 pertaining to the year? If so - which year? and Creed says it was handcrafted in the United States, do you know what H would pertain to? Thanks for your help.

Sorry, but it's NOT authentic. Where did you buy it if you own it, and can you get your money back? "K3H-" is a known and always invalid fake serial number prefix and is only found in fakes. If you bought it recently please supply details and the URL if it was an online site and we may be able to advise you on how to get a refund,

The actual Authenticate This thread is in the Coach Shopping forum, please use that thread for any and all future authentication requests and follow the instructions and supply the details and photos requested in Post Number One of that thread.

We normally need a full set of photos but that serial number prefix is never genuine so that makes it easier. In the future please be sure to have highly faked brands like Coach authenticated here at tPF before you buy. You'll save yourself a lot of money and frustration.

ETA - And just to explain why it's fake since it seems like you've tried to learn about Coach serial numbers already, the last time Coach used the H plant code was in January 1998. The code in the fake Stewardess and in all those fakes with the same prefix is for October 2003.

Thanks for your help. I bought it off Poshmark from a seller called Shop Last Dance. I will definitely check with this board before I buy any coach bags. I posted pics on the authentication page hoping others may learn from my mistake. Might you know of a place where I can purchase an authentication report that I can use for my paypal dispute? Thanks again.

The best authentication service for Coach is Authenticate4U and I've read that the best place to contact them is probably their Facebook page. They may not get back to you right away but since they have a group of authenticators who each specialize in specific brands it can sometimes take a while to get an answer. But the answer will be accurate, unlike other services that aren't even allowed to be mentioned in these forums. Any Coach specialist from their site should spot that fake serial prefix right away, unlike Poshmark's "authenticators" who will probably claim it's genuine and which is one of the many reasons why we absolutely DO NOT recommend buying on Poshmark and why one of our authenticators refuses to even authenticate their items.

Good luck!

I work at an antique store. While there are antiques, a lot of the vendors also bring in random stuff to sell. There's a coach bag, among several, I have my eye on. But I need your opinion. This is the creed. What do you think. Right now its the only photo I have but it is real leather. It looks vintage. Its a crossbody bag. The inside isn't lined. Its all leather.
