hello everyone! I am new here and this is my very first post :) I just started my obsession with designer bags and so far I'm into Gucci's. So yesterday I went to the Gucci outlet in Woodbury Commons and found this Emily micro GG guccissima shoulder bag, it wasn't on sale but it's the style and color I wanted. I went home with my new baby and did more research about Gucci outlets (I should've done this prior to going to the store, ugh) and I realized there are Guccis that are made specifically for the outlet stores and one indication that the bag is made for outlet is the "G" stamp on the inside leather tab with the serial number beneath it, so I immediately checked my bag and yes it does have that stamp :( For those of you who have purchased made for the outlets Gucci bags, how is the quality? are they worth the he fty price? I can exchange it for something else within 14 days, but would like to know if others are happy with their bags and I'll be convinced to keep it.gucciemily.JPG

Can you post what that looks like (the "G" on the stamp?). I have only purchased my Gucci bags from Gucci but I recall the outlet had told me they do not make specific outlet bags, etc and that they are selling last year's season

Last time I looked (about 7 months ago), the "G" stamp still looked like this....a capital G with a circle around it. The outlets definitely do sell the previous season (about 6-9 mo behind), but there are always bags that are made specifically for outlet. I used to live very close to the outlet in Chicago (Rosemont), and when you become familiar, it's easy to spot the "outlet only" bags. They are nicely made, and with nice leather, but are more basic in design, without some of the more expensive detailing that Gucci is currently showing. I have noticed, though, that the SAs will only admit there are "outlet only" bags if you go in knowing about them, and telling them your preference. I have had an SA who didn't know me, try to tell me a bag was previous season, until I pointed out the "G" stamp. At that point, he admitted his "mistake", and promptly decided to go on his break. Hahaha. I've never had one of the more experienced SAs who know me make that "mistake".

Here you go.. I didn’t notice this while I was trying on the bag at the store, or maybe it just didn’t occur to me to check because I had no idea about outlet bags.

Thank you for sharing and bringing this information to my attention. I had a hunch that the outlet has made for outlet items too because how can every outlet have so much inventory to keep up with the demand ?

I don't have anything made for an outlet but I know the way Gucci works.

Just guessing but Emilys were always good sellers. The only reason Gucci no longer sell them in regular stores is because they are too associated with the ex-CD. There is a shortage of regular recent bags to supply outlets ATM, fact. They probably sell Emilys too well to stop producing them.

Even if your Emily was made for an outlet in more recent times I think you can rest assured it will have been made in the same leather, in the same factories, by the same people as other Emilys originally available in regular stores. Each model needs new patterns and often tools and it costs far too much for Gucci to re-train craftspeople for a complicated bag that will be on sale in an outlet.

They sell both. Made for outlet items means Gucci keep the outlets stocked with bags Gucci know will fit price-points expected when there are not enough bags making it to outlets from reg stores. They also use up spare material leftover from reg bags in simpler models.

Thanks so much papertiger! I will be keeping the bag since I like the style. your explanation cleared out some of my misconceptions with regards to MFO bags. :)

I think the only difference between this and the previous Emilys Is that it’s microguccissima. If you love the Emily, I think this is a great addition :) enjoy!
