I would suggest the micropave, it gives the BAND the extra OMPH while not cutting the attention away from the stone

A no to the halo because it would be too busy and distracting on such a gorgeous rock!

The halo and stack the bands in your right hand. That halo look is so classic. I think its thin enough that it wont look ridiculous or anything. I for some reason just don't think a cushion is as lovely without a halo, I blame it on Tiffany's. That ring is my dream ring, sadly we can't afford the cushion I would be happy with, so I stick with RB.

Also, what is wrong with gold??? My initial ring was platinum and I HATED it. Platinum is A LOT softer than gold and it bends easier, scratches easier, and is not as shiny. I would get gold even if it cost me twice what platinum costs. If you are afraid of stone security, most gold settings have platinum cast heads.

yes, it is harder as it will not buff away, like gold. However, it bends more. I used to have platinum and the setting would become oval and I had to get it flattened every 3 months.

Funny you said halo look is classic. I think halo is a trend, which has been going on for 5 years and maybe they'll go away soon in terms of mass popularity(like fashion, I'm sure it'll come back in a decade of so if it goes out of style). Halo makes the stone look much bigger than it is, and help the center stone sparkle a lot. Tiffany also has Novo, which is a spectacular ring especially if the center stone is over 2.5 carats or so. I'm sure I've done the halo in a heart beat if my stone was around 1.5 carats of so.

Nothing is wrong with white gold. I just don't care for them.....maybe it's a cultural thing. I'm from Japan and when it comes to engagement & wedding rings we always use platinum. They say because the platinum don't tarnish and change color, and also pure metal, which they see it as the marriage to be the same way....pure and not tarnish forever. It's the mental thing and also I prefer the color of platinum better, it looks more gunmetal silver look I prefer and I love the heavier weight of it......I can feel the weight when I wear it, but white gold is really light that makes me feel it's not substantial.

That makes sense, yes if it means that much in your culture, definitely go with platinum. I don't think Halos are trendy. My grandma's wedding ring was a halo and so is my moms. I think the tiffany legacy has been around for a long time and is here to stay.

STUNNING diamond, and I LOVE your wedding band too!

I vote for the micro pave, but I'm also leaning towards the simple solitaire since the micro pave may compete too much with your wedding band. Either of the three though will be gorgeous with that stunning diamond!

I voted for the simple solitaire, since the cushion diamond is so amazing. I think that a simple solitaire setting will be the most stunning since there will be nothing to distract the eye from the beautiful large facets of the stone.

Maybe I'll change my mind in a few years (since I tend to like every 4 minutes), but I think halos are trendy and on their way out. It's common knowledge that halos make the center stone look bigger and I think that with any stone over 1.5 carats, the halo makes the center stone seem smaller since it has a halo around it. I think of it like young women like Heidi Montag getting botoxed/ eye lifts too young. It doesn't help and it makes them look like an older woman that is obviously going to the surgeon's office to look younger. Your stone just doesn't need anything else!

I also like this setting by Leon Mege, this one is more modern than the first one I posted. This also look clean and classy......more money but maybe I'll go with this one. If I get LM's setting, I'm getting a matching band with it. The band I'm wearing is not my wedding band, it's just an eternity stacking band I had........I can't wear my original wedding band anymore since my finger got fatter from having a baby........:crybaby:
