Got A Letter From Coach...

I have to play devil's advocate here and say that I understand why they're doing it. 6 returns all without receipts is a lot! There are a lot of people who abuse the system. While your situations may have been warranted, they probably don't see that in their records.

I'm sorry you had that experience. I'm not saying that you did anything wrong or that you don't have right to be angry, but I understand why they're doing it. Is it a big deal? Not really, but when they start seeing sales go down in this sort of economic climate I assume they're starting to tighten up more on things like returns.

If I were you, I'd call loss prevention and be polite yet assertive and see how they responded. If they didn't change it, I'd walk away just like you're doing.
 
I hear you but their return policy is one of the loosest I've ever seen or heard. I don't think this would be a reason to stop shopping Coach. Shoot- Express won't even let you have returns WITH the receipt without being on their ban list or whatever it is.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with you. If you scroll down you will see some members that wanted to make returns WITH their receipts and they are still being treated like crap. One of them had to be inconvenienced into going to another store just so she did not have to deal with that. I'm sure they are not the only ones. I too have been given the stink face when my return included a receipt. The return policy may appear "loose," but the people who are supposed to help you with that are less than accommodating and it is darn shame :nogood:

And yes, this is a good enough reason to quit buying Coach. I will not be insulted, nor will I be bothered to spend money in a place where they don't care about how some customers are being treated, but do have time to scrutinize in my exchanges :tdown: I never!
 
I am totally with you - Coach does seem to be turning away customers, and I think A LOT of customers shop with Coach because of their lax customer service. HOWEVER, I will tell you that LV is NO better + you're paying much more.

...this is why I get all Coach from outlets and LV from eBay - it just isn't worth the store hassle.

Uhmm, I don't think you read all of my post, but they were all exchanges therefore they never once lost any money. I always paid more at the end.
And all of those exchanges did not take place at the same time :rolleyes: Three of them were made after Christmas when every other person in there is returning while I was exchanging for a something more expensive...

I'm okay with then "tightening up" their return policy, but I don't need a freaking letter that basically tells me: "Yeah we think think you are defrauding us, do call us." Good grief :faint:

And no, I won't be rude or anything of the like. I will speak the truth about all of this as I have posted here, but I honestly have no expectations of any kind of change. I will be walking away regardless.
 
I understand where they are coming from but also it seems "over the top" to send you a letter questioning you about your returns. But then look at Wal-Mart, you can only have 3 returns a year w/out a receipt and Target you cannot even return or exchange anything without a receipt.

I know your situation is different but this is exactly why I save ALL my receipts and always ask for gift receipts too (just in case I loose the original).

Maybe its the time frame (like in the past 6 months) that flagged their system or something like that.



yeah but they didn't even question her. they just banned her. she wasn't given the opportunity to outlet her side. walmart does that because cheap scumbags steal sh*t and return it for cash. i have to show my license when i return without a receipt, and it still goes on a gift card. oh well. target, if you used your credit card, check card, whatever besides cash they can scan your card and it'll pull up in the system and you can return it. target's very progressive with their return system.

And I wasn't banned :faint: I just get the luxury of buying as much as I want, but I can't return/ exchange :p Might as well be banned, eh?
 
Oh, I'm sorry, I did read your entire post, I assure you. I understand that they were exchanges, but I know depending on what software they use, an exchange will still show up as a return. I didn't mean to disrespect at all. Like I said, you definitely have reason to be angry but I can see their side as well.

Edit: Also, 6 returns without receipts is really a lot even over 6 months. I'd probably be a little suspicious too if I worked for loss prevention there.

I just wanted you to get it straight so you understand where I'm coming from. And yes, when they do exchanges it shows that in your receipt.
I guess, you would have to get a letter in order to see how it feels :faint: I never thought I would get a such a letter :nogood: Just looking at it makes me think about all the $$$$ I have spent in Coach :sad:

I don't think 6 returns are a lot. I work retail and I have regular customers make at least one return a month, it is then that we try to steer them into exchanging rather than returning just so we don't lose out. That is what I did. No matter, I am still quitting Coach.

i agree about LV customer service. I've gone in Saks , not looking trashy or anything and the SA told me I couldn't touch the bags. This was after he ignored me for ten minutes. That's absolutely insane. They don't sell the floor models, at least not right away. EVERYONE handles them, but for some reason I guess they think I don't look rich enough to afford one? it's nuts. If i ever buy an LV, which I inevitably will at some point, it'll be from the website. I'm so sick of dealing with b*tchy SA's. Maybe it's just in my area, but geez I have the worst luck with SA's sometimes.
 
Whoa...that's crazy. I'm also one of many who are turning to other designer brands. But my issue is the whole full price going to outlets too quick (except sabrina, but i know they will eventually hit the outlets)...and yada yada. Anyway, i'm with you! I'm thinking LV haha..i have a chance to get a Chanel buuuut i'm not ready to blow almost 3 grand on a bag! Well let us know what bag you end up getting!!
 
Maybe they have a new policy that after 6 returns without a receipt, a letter is generated? I would think after you speak with them, you will not be on their returns ban list.

I don't know if 6 is the magic number, but they need not send me such a letter. It is rather accusatory in a very passive-aggressive way. At the very end, it's very serious sounding... makes you feel as if you don't call the CIA may show up :faint:
