Gold hardware regret! anyone?

I've never had any tarnishing on any of my Chanel bags or wallets, in any hardware colors, my oldest item is almost 20 years old. TBH I don't read about it often, I don't find it to be a common issue.

+100. I’ve never had an issue with tarnishing of ghw. Or any HW

but I don’t even have an issue with the old striped metallic leather or so black hw, both things that seem to be problematic for many other TPFers. Maybe just luck, IDK

I had a gold hardware tarnish on a black chevron caviar classic flap from the teens (don’t remember the exact year). That was one of the very few issues I had with a Chanel item. I sold the bag.

I haven’t had tarnishing issues with my gold plated items. My problem was the fading of the gold plating. I avoid the gold plated items after that happened.
