I love the jumping boots but I'm a bit gutted that the box leather ones don't quite fit my calf. I can get them on but the circulation in my leg stops. Eek. Also a realization at how old I'm getting because when I was younger and rode horses I was a "slim calf" tall boot girl!

So, my only real option are the swift boots, right? The 37s in swift fit but are a bit loose overall. H didn't have a 36.5 available for me to try the day I was there.

Or has anyone successfully gotten the calves stretched in the regular box calf? Take them to anyone in Central London? The footbed of the 37 fits fine as I'm a regular EU37. Might I be better off half a size down with 36.5? I definitely need the regular (v. Asian cut) because I need the height.

And since I'm heavily considering the etoupe - what are your thoughts on wearing it with a gold bag? I feel like gold bags are more summery - great with bright whites and gold jewellery; and etoupe seems a bit more wintry and great with "winter whites" and soft heather greys. At least, that's how it reads on my olive-toned skin.

Better yet, anyone with some enabling boot pics of the etoupe/gold combo?Maybe I should just stick with etoupe and hope the next bag offered is etoupe (instead of gold - AGAIN!).

I hear you on the whole "getting old, not a slim riding boot anymore" ordeal. I go on a diet not for bikini weather but rather to fit in my Jumping boots in the winter. I wouldn't totally give up hope on the box calf ones, especially if you can actually get them on your leg. Both of my box calf Jumping boots had to be stretched before I could even get them on. The most effective stretching has been for me to wear them out and about, rather than just at home sitting on the sofa. Walking keeps the circulation in the legs going, too, lol. I think the swift boots will be more forgiving and require less or no stretching in the break in period. I don't think I'd size down at all, especially if the calf is already a bit tight, but I've also found that every pair fits a bit differently. So if you can try it on first, that's always ideal. I love the etoupe boots, and I don't see it as being strictly a winter color. At least in clemence and Togo, etoupe seems to take on a brownish undertone in certain lighting, so personally I'd have no problem pairing it with a Gold bag or wearing it in warmer months.

Edit-I just saw that you said the 37 in swift was a bit loose. So perhaps a 36.5 would work.

Ouija board- I am the same way! I literally told my DH the other day that I'm hitting the gym every day to get into those box boots, and not prep for bikini season!

ECLER - wow, you didn't get that done in London by any chance did you? I sure could use those extra 2 cm!

Also -- has anyone seen Etain in London or EU shops? If I'm not mistaken, H can mail boots since, although they are leather, are considered RTW right?

I think I prefer etain to etoupe. I was at FSH a few days ago and the SA in the shoe dept said etain was seasonal and they didn't have it. But looking a few posts back it seems that etain was the most recent LE colour. Or has it already been replaced by Alezan?

Hello ladies!

I need some help in understanding how to break in my jumping boots. I have a size 37 (normally wear a 37.5 in all other shoes and the size 38 looked really big) and they are intolerable after 30 minutes of wear. The biggest issue is that they bite around the back of my feet/ankle.

Never one to shop prudently, I now have two pairs that are relegated to being worn at parties at my own house (which is kind of sad). I have tried to convince my DH that he should just carry me around but he helpfully suggested that I write to all of you instead!

Any ideas ... further DH sponsored Hermes purchases depend on the boots being worn without complaint so please, please help. I should mention that I have tried to take some pain meds and "man up" but this has not really worked for me ....

:sos:

Hmm. I don't know if I'd do this with H boots but have you tried taking to a cobbler who will stretch them for you? I do this with my CL's but only through a trusted place in NYC.

May be wear thicker tights/socks (ankle socks) inside? Or perhaps try not wearing them without mentioning it to your DH. I have several H and other designer bags that have been sitting in my closet for a few years but I just changed the subject if my DH ever asked about them (he doesn't do that very often) or I'd just say I used it just the other day. :p

do any of you ladies wear H heels as well? wondering how comfy they are since I'm looking to buy the night 70 for my sister's wedding. Might get the 90 if it comes in a nude color.

Swoon, chincac, lovely64, and scholastican! Your Etoupe and Etain Jumping Boots are giving me serious boot lust and are raising that perennial debate in my mind, "Which color is more versatile"? For someone who wears a lot of blacks, greys, dark ink denim but is of a warmer skin tone, which color would you recommend? Do you find yourselves wishing you had one color over the other?

i think they are both very similar to be honest..and will match almost everything. just a matter of personal preference.

here is a pic of etain in swift (jumping boots) vs etoupe in chevre (louise). hth..

Wow, thank you chincac ! Your pic is very helpful! Etoupe appears to have a touch more warmth to its hue and looks like it would stand out nicely against dark colors.

From what I've seen of H colors, etoupe is a warmer neutral taupe with brown undertones whereas etain is a cool neutral grey, a true saturated solid grey, if you will.

Here is a comparison shot of etain vs. etoupe. Etain is top belt strap(thinner 23mm size) and etoupe is bottom(wider 32mm size with white contrast stitching). Both colors will complement your wardrobe colors, but etoupe will provide a more stark contrast against black while etain is closer to darker palettes. Hth!

Thank you, scholastican! This pic is a great help! Are both colors in the same leather -- I'm guessing Epsom?
