Giving TIPS to sales in order to get a BIRKIN?

That's what I thought too. I really wanna report that thing to the store but realize I'm still need B and K from them. Maybe after I move back to California in few month, I will report this. I'm thinking this is not just SA, there might be coming from the management as well because my friend does not have any purchase history. It is impossible to buy a B without any purchase history.

But you posted earlier this month that you got a Birkin as a walkin with no purchase history.

Well, before I purchase my Birkin, I bought a pair of Kelly boots from Madison a week before that. What I mean by walk-in is I didn't buy any other stuff with my birkin purchase. I had a lot of Hermes purchase in SF,beverly hills, Chicago and Hawaii store in the system.

A good friend of mine in SoCal visit Madison store few weeks ago and was able to buy a Black 30B with GHW. He tipped the SA with 5k cash after the transaction, they met outside of the store(I guess the SA taking lunch break). This is happening out there, unfair for the people spending lot of money but didn't get offer a B or K. Forgot to mention, my friend does not live in NY and have no purchase history from Madison store.

In New York state, for a bribe over $1000, it's considered a Class E Felony in the first degree for both the briber and the bribee. Four years imprisonment if convicted.

If someone wants a purse THAT badly, it's better to buy from a reseller and pay an exhorbitant price. At least that way, it's only highway robbery on the seller's end, and stupidity on the buyer's end. No one gets locked up. :p

This might consider tipped, because he gave the cash after the transaction.

The SAs are not allowed to accept tips or gifts that cannot be shared. And no need to exit the store fur a "tip" in any case. Your initial description of a bribe sounds right to me.

But I commend you for speaking out about this as the Information you've provided is probably enough for Hermes corporate to figure out who the SA and buyer are.

Certain sales associates routinely walk the clients outside after purchase ..........

Query: What prevents other SAs from reporting this unless everyone else is doing it or they share the bribe. And, why wouldn't the SAs in the upper floors who aren't getting bribes report it?

I can't believe someone would give $5K for a 30B. Wow.

Yes this!

Also certain SA will also routinely have "coffee" with you. If a bribery is in the works, there are PLENTY of ways to exchange money. Outside the boutique - during coffee/lunch/"help" to the car, etc.

Usually if a SA is doing it, nearly everyone else is aware that it's going on. As for it being reported, IDK. I'm guessing the others get fed up with the injustice of it all and someone reports it.

I vaguely remember this going on at my boutique V-E-R-Y LONG time ago. The bribe was $1K and it was given to a new young male associate. He stupidly blabbed and crowed about his "ingenious" scheme to others. The other staff found out what he was doing and he was subsequently fire shortly thereafter.

The economy was way better then. So I'm not sure what's going on these days. And frankly I dont want to know.
I was escorted to my car when purchased my birkin purely because I was with my toddler.
My boutique will escort you outside the store if you need the extra hand, regardless of reason (e.g. too many bags, not enough hands, etc).

This topic has several layers. I can only comment on my personal first hand account of events and transactions at H. All my visits have been pleasant at Madison and Wall Street in search of B. It was also inferred by more than one SA that clients, repeat business to new yorkers were the first people considered when B's or K's arrive. No one asked or suggested a bribe, but I didn't offer. I don't want a SA to lead me on and I don't want to lead them on either. I am not interested in other bags, apparatus or items. I don't wear H jewelry and my home is fully furnished. It is likely that I will buy more B's, but it is not a guarantee.

Why does this NOT surprise me. There is little to no difference between accepting an up front cash exchange and being told one has to spend, spend, spend in order to even get offered a purse. Both tactics means additional mone and it makes no difference if it is via commission structure or laying the greenbacks on the table, or in the palm. (Granted if you buy, buy, you have something tangible that you can turn around and sell or just use but let's face it, either way you slice the dessert, what we're talking about is extortion.

Wonder how well a successful sting operation would look on national/international TV. Those who have been told by a snarky SA that we don't discuss b's and k's, there's a dab of salve to rub in thy wound.

It would be remarkable.

Why do I have this funny image of the H staff now being besieged by some desperate clients with fat wallets? All this talk about tipping and bribery will just make the problem worse and in turn, make it tougher for those who choose not to "sweeten the pot."

Light bulbs went off for people who aren't despicable. Oh, that is what I have to do to obtain a B or K. That is not going to happen!
