To use a GMT bezel (vs. a hand on the face) to tell time in a second zone, here is what you need to know.
Let's say it is 12PM in NY, and 9AM in LA. Your watch is set to NY time, so you have the hands clearly delineating that by pointing to the 12 o'clock position.
GMT function uses military time. So 0900 or "9" is 9AM. Simply rotate the bezel until the hour hand on the face (currently pointing to 12PM on the face) is pointing to the "9" on the bezel. Or in this instance, bring the "9" on the bezel to the 12 o'clock position.
As you will see, it shows 12PM on the face, and 9AM on the bezel. Face of the watch = NY TIME. Bezel = LA TIME. You have set the correct time in 2 zones! Congrats!
Now, as the day progresses, say it is now 3PM NY time, you will notice that the hour hand is pointing to "3" on the face of the watch, but a "12" on the bezel. This is because now it is Noon in LA, and 3 in NY. No other adjustment is needed as time is constant.
You can do this for any time zone shift. Simply remember the numbers on the bezel are your hours in the day, in military time. Minutes need not be adjusted as they are constant.
If your watch has a longer hand on the
face for the GMT function, and numbers for the military time, it works the same way. You will just need to pop the crown to adjust the GMT hand for the second zone. Again, minutes stay the same.
Hope this helps!
