I loved Furla when they were made exclusively in Italy and still have a gorgeous navy messenger that was made in Italy. Like nearly every other company, they've started farming out most of their line to be manufactured in China. I have nothing against China, but when I buy an Italian bag, I want it made in Italy. Besides, there's a definite difference in the feel and construction of the ones made in Italy vs. the made in China counterparts.

:true:

To Furla's credit though, they seem to be pricing the made in China bags lower than the ones still made in Italy, which is as it should be.

how do you know whether it's the china line or not? is it under a different name?

The easiest way is to look at the metal plate on the inside of the bag. The ones that are made in Italy will have Furla, then Made in Italy under that followed by Genuine Leather stamped on the plate.

The ones made in China just have Furla and Genuine Leather on the metal plate. Inside those bags there's a fabric Made in China sewn into the seam of the lining. It's not stamped on the plate....kind of sneaky IMHO.

I've also noticed that, at least for now, the Made in Italy bags run a good bit higher than the Made in China bags. There IS a difference in the quality of the leather of the Made in China bags, too. Not nearly as soft, supple and heavenly smelling as the Italy bags.

Edit note:

Here's some photo examples. The Made in Italy tag.

Below, is the Made in China tag, but again, the actual tag that says Made in China is sewn into the lining, near the bottom of the bag usually.

I've been wanting to check out the outlet in Cypress it's about 2-2.5 hours away depending on traffic. Did you notice the Thalia in Acai Berry (bright blue)? It's sold out everywhere online.

I don't remember that bag, but the store did have bags in that blue. The store had many colors stocked: pinks, oranges, white, blue, black, and tans. They had many wallets especially the zip around wallets. Lots of keychains, too....

If anyone is looking for a great price on a Made in Italy Furla messenger (in deerskin, no less  ), Zappos has these three GORGEOUS colors on sale.

I needed to replace a Prada messenger I sold, so I ordered this one and UPS just delivered it. Instead of the monogram Furla lining, they put suede under the flap!! It's fabulous!

I want the blue and the gray too, but that would a be a teeny bit overkill. ;)

That is superb! I have a Made in Italy bag in black from awhile ago it's definitely well made. The leather is like my high-end bags.
