If someone carries such a stunning suitcase near me I can’t help but look too, it’s an eye candy! I once saw the general manager of a Hilton hotel in economy, on a budget airline nonetheless. No shame in not wanting to waste money on things you don’t find wort it.

If I travel to a resort or somewhere where I’m staying put, I tuck my couture bag inside my Tumi Cortina Boarding Tote. The whole idea of placing a nice bag on the airport conveyor belt doesn’t sit well with me.

If I’m traveling to someplace more “adventurous” and we’re moving around a lot, I use a Tumi cross-body. We try to be as low-key as possible.

Urgh flying is uncomfortable enough without worrying about what other people are bringing on board the plane as their personal bags.

I've carried longchamp and kipling backpacks into Business and carried LV/Chanel/Gucci into Economy - IMHO North American airlines aren't worth the upgrade from Economy to anything...the Asian airlines though, WORLD of difference. People will always find ways to look down their noses at you so I learned a long time ago to stop caring about what they think. My ONLY issue is, if I bring an expensive back onboard, I better be able to access it at all times and if it's in an overhead bin, I'm sitting in the aisle and watching that bin like a hawk.

This situation has never crossed my mind. I don't think people are judging you, they are most likely admiring your items. I personally would not take my designer stuff on the airline because I do not want them to get damaged or get dirty. If I do have a bag with me, its in the carry on roller or in my backpack.

Plus I fly economy to save money, I can easily sleep on airlines so there is no use wasting money on a nap.

I fly economy all the time because I've tried first class a few times and I don't see the point of spending more to be seated a few rows upfront and be served food I would't want to eat anyways (I hate plane food no matter the class). I travel with my lux bags that I worked (and still work) so hard to afford. I never noticed any looks and I actually never cared. Neither should you. Have fun and enjoy your beautiful bags.

Eh, I personally don’t find paying for business class worth it unless it’s an international flight.

And my philosophy is wear your luxury bags/luggage whenever and however you want. I personally enjoy the juxtaposition of ‘luxury in the mundane’, if you will.

I travel a good deal for work but, I’m by no means a road warrior. When I travel for work, I usually carry a non designer
laptop bag or stealth (no logo) designer bags. But, that’s to keep down work drama - not any sort of concession towards people on planes.

The happy fall out from my work travel is that is I earn points / miles to “spend” on flights for my leisure travel (which is my #1 passion - even before bags. Lol!) I want to go as much as possible and when I land, I like to stay at beautiful, luxury accommodations. So, that means getting the cheapest fare that will get me to where I want to go. And, if I’m paying real dollars for the flight I definitely don’t want to upgrade.

But, I’m still me. So, I dress and carry what I want. For a longer trip, It may be a super cheap but study backpack with my designer bags tucked safely inside or if I’m going somewhere for just one or two days, it may be one of my Chanels or some other premier designer bag.

The vacation starts when I land. Not when I take off. So, I won’t spend extra to “mail” myself where I want to go. LOL! And, I couldn’t care less what others think. As one poster said, if they don’t feel I should be in economy, they can pay to upgrade me.

I am not sure I get the question. If people are going to be looking at you in what you feel is a judgmental way for carrying luxury bags and luggage, they would do so whether you travel business or economy or? How does travelling economy make it "worse"? If anything, it makes more sense as with the difference between the two tickets you can buy a Gucci bag these days... Anyway, within continental Europe 99.9% of people travel economy for leisure. The basic difference between the two is a curtain that gets moved depending on occupancy... So seeing luxury bags in economy is perfectly normal, it may be different in other places of course.
