I have been having the same problem with my patent varinas... I've worn them a few times (couple hours each time without too much walking) and they are still so uncomfortable.

I found these very low cut socks in black at nordstrom rack. They are by hue, but I have never seen them online. They only cover your toes and bottom of foot and heel, so they don't poke out like most "low cut" socks I've seen. They help a bit.

Just had to update.

I previously had a pair of patent varinas in size 7. Australia only has width C. They hurt so so bad (they felt snugged and fitting but I guess that's a tad too small for walking) they even bled I'm not kidding hence it has only been worn approx 8 times. Could never understand how people were saying they are sooo comfy. But after having it for a little more than a year I recently decided to check the width of my varina as the right foot's bone at side was "digged in" by the shoe. Lo and behold, one side was width C and the other width B (Aus does not carry B, they were puzzled too).

Decided to call Ferragamo up and they said I could exchange. I decided to give size 7.5C a go since 7 was fitting but hurts when walking.

Ahh, now I understand why people love their ferras. They are one of the most comfortable and good looking shoes around. So for me, patent varinas, I would have to go half size up. Might be a little loose when it eventually expands but I can always add an insole (rather than have them too small).

Hope this helps. If it still hurts after a number of wears, means IT'S TOO SMALL (wear them at home first, you won't be able to exchange once you step on gravel etc.) Go half size up. I love love my varinas now. They are gonna be my workhorse shoes.

Just to give my thoughts. I have patent varinas and I got them in 6B. 6 is my tts. 6 was tight but it definitely stretched after 2-3 wears. I also wore them around the house with socks to stretch them :)

I also tried on the 6.5 but it was too big already in the store. Hope this helps some people. I know I struggled forever to figure out my size :)

Anyone planning to sell her Ferragamo Varina flats in Peony? I've been looking high and low for the colour!! Please help if any kind soul happen to know where I could get them! Thank you so much!

I do wish I hadn't bought the patent leather - I don't think they're ever going to break in :nogood: I've been wearing them around the office, but made the mistake of wearing them to the shops once, scuffing up the sole and making them impossible to return. It's been nearly two months now and I give up... I guess I'll have to write them off as a very expensive mistake.

I own two patent leather varinas. The first pair are black wedges, bought two years ago and after umpteen times of wearing them, still hurt today. Sigh.

The second pair are red flats. After three times of wearing them and several blisters later, they are finally comfy this weekend.

bumping up this thread. are these shoes still considered in style? I want to get a pair, they are such classics, but it seems no one wears them anymore? plus with the current pandemic world, seems like there are no opportunities to wear such gorgeous shoes.

I’ve been wondering the same thing! They are classic but not on trend (I think that’s the best way to put it).
