I recently got a pair of the black patent Varina flats. They are extremely well reviewed on many stores online sites and people seem to rave about how comfy they are. Unfortunately, I don't find them to be all that comfortable, at least not right out of the box

The patent is stiff and they dig into the bones on the top of my foot.

Anyone have any tips about breaking them in? I've been wearing them around the house with socks. Do they get more comfy? I don't have any patent flats so I'm unfamiliar with how much patent leather gives over time.

It's a shame they don't seem to work with my feet, they are adorable shoes.

Yeah, I received the varina animal patent from the sale yesterday. I being wanting this flat forever!! but last night, i was a bit disappointed because they are not as comfy as vara flat. Mine is also half size bigger, so i return them today. I did read that some people order half size bigger in patent?

I actually got true to size and ordered an 8.5. they fit just fine but they just aren't comfortable. sadly I think i will be sending them back.

It's strange, but my Vara was the uncomfortable one. I have been spraying it with shoe stretcher lotion, wearing it to short outings, but only managed one good day when it doesn't hurt. I think I will stretch it professionally at the cobbler's.

Conversely, my calf skin Varina is pretty comfy. I do find patent leather Ferragamo's very "hard" and painful to wear. Think it all boils down to the leather, besides the cut? My Vara is cut much narrower than the Varina and I got them at the same size, 6.5D.

You might wanna try to stretch yours professionally too.

thanks for the tip, love miu! I'll have to ask my cobbler about getting them stretched. I might need to get regular leather varina's and not patent ones so they are softer...

I am having the same problem! Any suggestions?

hi everyone,

I've also just bought a pair of varina flats, and because I've always been wearing a size 6 for vara, I bought this varina in size 6. But to my horror, when wearing the shoe, between my feet and the shoe, there's a huge hole at the back it! I'm so upset because I've always liked the varina.

Any ideas on how to make it looks less loose at the back?

I've read the threads about sizing for the patent varinas. Conflicting info. ::confused::. I'm an 8 in the my ferragamo calf flats (pointy toe ones), 7.5 in the my ferragamo round toe ones. My feet are wider, so I'm thinking 8w for the patent varinas...or7.5w??? I'm usually an 8 in most designers. Help me figure out my size please! Can't go in to try them on - no ferragamo for miles and miles and miles...

gratify and satisfy ; repeat

^^^ I find that my Varina flats run true to size. I wear a six in almost every shoe that doesn't have a heel. I go up a size for heels, just because I don't like my feet to push forward. You can go with a 7.5 if you like, but they do stretch out a bit also, so keep that in mind. This is my most recent pair.

Thanks! Hope 7.5 fits! Love your flats! I'm eyeing the peony color.

I've got the exact same pair in width B. I've had it for a year now but still hurts, maybe because I rarely wear it. It hurts so bad (both front and back). Has yours or anyone's (patent) broken in and is comfy now?

Mine were actually so uncomfortable from wearing them around the house that I ended up returning them. I have 2 pairs now of the 'my joy' flats (http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/...6&sp=1&rid=100&spc=98&kws=Salvatore Ferragamo) and they fit like a dream and feel like slippers.

I'm sad about the varina, they are so pretty but they hurt my feet so bad it wasn't worth it to keep them

Did you size down for your my joy flats? I'm wondering if I should've sized down..

Thanks for replying. Yes I love my My Joys as well, so comfy. Think I'd have to slowly break into my varinas ('cos they look so good haha).
