Doing a brief and very random search on the website, it does not appear that Fendi has “stopped” using nappa or other animal leathers to line their many Peekaboo models. Some Peekaboos are described as having leather (nappa and others) linings and some are described as having linings consisting of leather plus other materials including cotton & polyurethane. In my random look I found only one bag (not a Peekaboo) described as having Alcantara lining. I guess one way to resolve the question whether they are across-the-board moving away from leather linings to using synthetics is to ask Fendi. I have found that (sadly) the SAs don’t always know as much as we consumers do, so if I were to ask, I would address my question to Fendi corporate.

On the German page it describes the Peekaboo with Alcantara, but you are right, and I have thought the same and wrote to Fendi directly to clarify. As I remember it the peekaboo used to be leatherlined (at least the models that didn’t have the fabric in them, obviously)?

PS: Meant to say as well that I agree with you that synthetic lining is not the same level of luxury as leather - but there is a growing movement in the fashion industry to embrace
sustainability. There are issues with that too - but that discussion is for a different forum.

my leather Peekaboos are all leather lined. Haven’t shopped the iconic in a while, so there’s no doubt much I’m not aware of.

Do you own a large iconic? I am looking for a forever bag suitable for work...

I do not currently own a large iconic. I had two, early on, but carrying them was for me like carrying a suitcase, so I sold them through The Real Real. The medium is my ideal size. I have two mini iconics that I generally use as going-out-to-dinner (long time since I’ve done that!) bags.
