Fendi peekaboo thoughts?

I had a mini peekaboo at some point and it was surprisingly functional! I don’t love how it looks as much as a Kelly, but found it much more practical with the double compartments and easier to access opening. Sold it because I didn’t end up loving the color but always meant to replace it...

I have been a Peekaboo fan since 2010 and have settled on the medium as my ideal size. I currently own several, including two minis (one a custom order) and a couple of x-lites, and would be hard pressed to decide which of them to part with (fortunately don't have to make such a decision). Early on I had two in the large size -- too big -- like carrying a suitcase. Interesting that you find the Peekaboo to be "heavy" - with the medium size that has not been my experience, particularly when I compare to Birkin 35 which IMO is heavy even when empty. For me too there is something about Peekaboo that conjures the Kelly.
Question for you, I’ve been looking at getting a peekaboo on the resale market. One of the things I’ve read is there are super fakes & authentic ones will have a RFA plastic piece inside the interior fendi tag. Can all you fendi peekaboo owners that purchased direct from boutique confirm this?

Has anyone purchased the woven leather peekaboo? I love them. My problem with them is the price, which is high IMHO. Especially if the resale market is not good (I don't sell but always look at that for some reason.)

I checked 4 of my Fendi bags purchased between 2017 and 2020. All 4 have a tag marked “RFID label removable”. It’s not always easy to find, and once located, not necessarily easy to read or to pull forward for photographing. This practice by Fendi (inserting RFID chip in their bags) has been fairly well reported in the media. Given its significance for authentication purposes, I can’t imagine why anyone would remove the tag. Aside from that, not sure who (other than authorized Fendi retailers?) has the capability to read the RFID chip. And maybe the counterfeiters will figure out (or already have) how to forge these. For myself, if I really wanted a particular Fendi bag and wasn’t comfortable paying retail, AND could verify authenticity and and and - I would buy from a trusted reseller. I love the peekaboo. They are expensive and don’t retain their value as well as other brands. However, I’m not buying them with resale in mind - and when I do resell, my philosophy is that anything I get from reselling is more than I get if I give the item away. Posting pix of RFID tags.

Thank you so much @redhott!! & can you confirm you can actually feel that there is some type of plastic within these tags? What’s even stranger is I called fendi yesterday & they said to there knowledge they don’t feel plastic in any of their tags. Great training eh!! But they noted that all bags should have a unique serial number on the leather portion. Different from every bag produced. So the bag I was looking it, I happened to see the exact style sold on yogis closet sure enough had the exact same serial number. The seller I’ve been speaking with is still doing an entrupy authentication. I’ll keep the group posted but I would be interested to see where that nets out as I’ve heard entrupy is only 99% correct, yikes right?!

I do not feel any plastic in the labels, but I think the RFID “chip” is more like a tiny decal or piece of tape - not a lot of mass to it.

PS: on each label, near where it is sewn into the bag, is a series of numbers (difficult to see because of how the label is attached to the bag, and the very small space I’m dealing with inside some of the bags) — from what I see online, these numbers are the serial number of the bag. And in the interest of clarity: all my Fendi bags have been purchased from Fendi or from SFA. Definitely authentic.

Oh so it’s not the leather tag that contains the unique serial number but the fabric tag that says RFIA? Per my attached example

I am no expert in this area. Perhaps you can ask the tPF Fendi authenticators. My knowledge comes from observing my own bags and reading what has been published online. I have seen BOTH a leather tag with serial numbers AND the RFID (note: it is RFID not RFIA; it stands for “radio frequency identification”) label (with numbers) in my bags. Those numbers match the number on the Fendi card that accompanied the bag. I

I spoke with my Fendi SA and did some more research online. Numbers on RFID label are different from the serial number. Also, I think last picture I posted is the hologram which F used before they started using RFID. This thread got me curious so I cut open the tag on by one of my bags: here is a photo of what’s inside the tag. It’s a clear decal-like label that adheres to the cloth label. The bag ALSO has the leather tag with serial number embossed. 85F4399F-B54E-4CF8-9095-3323BF2E54CD.jpeg

I love the Peekaboo Iconic shape and feel - but I discovered that they have stopped (?) using leather lining, instead using Alcantara - which I find haptically super unpleasant, it feels strange against my skin. Why would they do that? Seems less high end to me than leather lining.

I am not familiar with Alcantara. I see several Peekaboo Iconic, Medium size on the Fendi website, all with leather lining per the description.
