This is a great thread....

I don't hide my handbags from my coworkers, but I don't flaunt them, either. In fact, I know they think I'm bag-obsessed, but they're right, so it doesn't really bother me. I'm not married, I don't have children, I pay my bills, and I can spend my income the way that I want to.

I DO hide a couple of very pricey bags from my mom; we're very close, so hiding stuff from her is hard to do, but she's judgmental and thinks I'm developing a problem. Maybe... :graucho: But I usually end up "confessing" because I don't feel like hiding the bag from her whenever we go out.

I have a boyfriend who knows about my Coach fetish but not about the extremity of my collection or the prices...but I don't hide a new bag from him, either.

My father and my brothers would faint if they knew what my collection was like. I think my older brothers are catching on (finally) to the Coach brand, but they don't know how many I have.

I figure that there is much worse I could be spending my $$$ on; I work hard and a new bag brings me so much pleasure; I'm not about to let anyone make me feel bad about a purse. ;)

All my handbags (in their dustbags) are located in our joint walk in closet so he "knows" about them but he hasn't seen them all. As, I hardly use many of them. So every time he see ones that I hardly use, he would ask if it was new. Anyhow, he doesn't want to know how much they cost but they aren't secrets. Ignorance is bliss, he says.

Eventually my fiance will see the bags I buy, even if I don't tell or show him right away. I also usually only disclose how much I spent on a bag if he asks or if it was over a certain amount. It's like a... need to know basis, I suppose. He understands my obsession, but he knows I spend my money on them and not his, so as long as I don't dip into our mutual savings pot, he's okay with whatever.

I'm surprised ur men actually notice ur bags, i could buy a new bag everyday of the week and my bf wouldn't notice, i asked him how much he thought my marc jacob bag costs, he's like 30 dollars?? LOL my dad is like that too, he never notices if my mom buys something new, he cant tell the difference between a 5 dollar or 1000$ bag, im shocked ur hubbys notice, i thought all men were clueless?? Loll

I heard something great today....a friend said "shopping is my hobby, sport, etc. All the money that I am not spending on dumb extra stuff, I can spend on fashion" :)

Having said that, if my mom asks the price, I tell her half...not her business (and she would chew me out). My husband knows and is usually supportive if I find good deals. That's how you know you have a keeper!

my family has seen all the bags i have but they don't know that i get them most from kooba. i spend quite a bit on them but don't tell my family exactly how much haha. my latest kooba bag received a lot of compliments, so i'd say it's a good investment :)

My DH knows how many bags I have. There is no point hiding it from him because while he was home alone one day, he took out all my bags from my closet and laid them all out on our bed and took pictures of them collectively and individually. He also listed how many bags I own of each brand. I stopped lying then. However, I think some good came out of it because he saw the beauty of each and every bag I own and appreciated them, that he actually encourages me to buy what I like, as long as there is an event..like a birthday, or something.

My DH is the same, I think that in a way our DHs feel pride and contentment in seeing someone they love enjoy and appreciate something that they have given us. My DH tells me that my eyes sparkle when I get a purse as a gift! :smile1:
