Fake/inspired bags-would you buy?

I personally wouldn't buy anything "fake."
If you really like the look of one though, some stores like Target have some that are similar in style to the designer ones but aren't fake and don't sport designer logos when they're clearly not what they claim to be.
I'd never buy a fake because it takes money away from the designer and supports a lot of indecent causes.
There's a full page ad in this month's Harpers Bazaar that gives you a link to report fakes.

No way I would use a fake, but an inspired bag I might buy. But by inspired I mean a bag that doesn't look exactly like a designer bag, but for example a bag that may have the same embroidery as a designer bag, but the bag otherwise looks different. :/

I would personally never buy eiter fake or inspired bags, but I don't have any problems with seing people who wear inspired.

When I see people carrying inspired, I think: "Oh, that's obviously inspired, but maybe the person carrying it don't know it's inspired, can't afford the real deal but likes the design etc etc."

When I see people carrying fake, I think: "Who the h*** does she think she's fooling? She's making a mock of us who uses much money on bags, and that's a horrible fake! Has she got no shame??!!"

What other people do with their money is their business. But I didnt spend $$$ on my bags not to USE them. If I am going to the beach/baseball game/amusement park/skiing or any other place where I would worry about excessive damage then I bring one of my tried and true Coach bags.

I couldn't tell if this was directed at me or not because I posted right above it? :push: But just to clarify, I don't buy fakes now with the intentions of not using them, but my mom has bought me them around a year ago, and I don't want to just give purses that are in fine condition away. I honestly don't have much besides those and my two designer bags, so as much as I'd like to just get rid of them, I need some sort of alternative. I never take them anywhere like the mall where they're going to get seen a lot, though, because I don't want to be perceived as one of those people who only owns fake bags and tries to show them off. I'm trying to get rid of them soon. *shrug*

I think in Cat Lovers situation it's reasonable to use fakes. Why indeed throw good lookin bags away? And if her mum bought them to her. Now that I think about it if my mom would buy me a fake bag (and if it looked nice) I might use it :/. I think I might have been too hard on people who have fake bags :S

Ruusu,
Haha, I completely understand why you are hard on them  Like I said, I don't even take them to places like the mall where a lot of people would be looking at them because I don't want to be perceived as a faker. I just don't know what to do with mine (I have three) because it's pretty unethical to sell them. I think I'll just "leave them behind" when I move off to college in a few weeks, or give them to one of my friends who has a certain affinity for fake bags and has told me she'd buy mine. Lol.

Never, I hate fakes and logo's.....it ruins it for the real thing...there is something about saving your money to have the real one and than when you do you are the only person sometimes that knows it's real but it's a nice feeling to know you did the right thing. Some purses you just wait till they go on sale. I think it's a slap in the face to the designers.

Fakes, no, theyre illegal.. I have to admit tho I bought a designer inspired paddy (that was fine because it didnt have the words "Chloe" on it) so I didnt feel like I was breaking the law or ripping off the real designer.. I eventually got a few of the real ones and my credit card hates me... but I just look at the bags and smile

No fakes here either. I have zero tolerance for counterfeit goods of any kind. In my closet are LV, Dooney, Coach & Kate Spade.

Designer inspired bags like those sold at Target...no problemo as long as trademark and intellectual property violations aren't occurring. There are ways for ladies to be stylish on a budget.

I bought my first and last fake bags back in 2003. I had just graduated from High School and went to New York. That was before I was able to afford real bags, and I didn't really have a huge appreciation for bags. Shortly after I went to college, I stopped carrying them all together. I love all my REAL bags and wouldnt trade them for the world. I HATE fakes though, stupid and a waste of money. Also would people stop buying from EBAY, most of those bags are fake too. Now for inspired. I guess I have bought some inspired bags from EBAY. I think thats is okay. I REALLY love handbags so me buying a new purse most of the time has nothing to do with the designer and more with the actual design and quality. Those few "inspired" bags from ebay I don't really carry them much, but I still like them. But I think if you can't afford LV, Chanel, or Marc Jacobs. Try buying Coach. GREAT quality and low price compared to other designers(especially at the outlets). PLus if you shop at coach a lot like me and sign up for their mailing list they will mail you a 25% OFF coupon each season:graucho:
